Steve Finley is on steroids?? Hit his 14th HR today!!

We have gone back and forth on this issue many times. How could Bonds be hitting so many as he continues to get older?? Forget Bonds for now. How are guys like Steve Finley, Luis Gonzalez, Julio Franco, and Ruben Sierra ( when he plays ) hitting homers at their ages? What's the logical explanation? They are old guys who should have careers that are just abotu winding down. Of all the old timers, Finley is the most baffling. I know Gonzo is pretty consistent, but he isn't exactly a spring chicken either.

GHet your Finley rookies now!!! He's leading the majors!! I'm going to keep an eye on the Finley-o-meter. The Finley Watch is on as is the "Race to 300" continues.

7 MVP awards, the single season HR record, career walks record, single season walks record, 700HR/500SB, and two batting titles near 40 years old. How can one argue that those aren't stats of the greatest to ever play the game??? All this and there is still more to come!!!! Bonds:2005 NL MVP. Or are you going to doubt him again?

I would like to believe that none of these guys are dumb enough to use steroids or any other illegal drugs that theoretically could boost their performance now and harm them for years in the future. Unfortunately, we know that is not the case, as many tested positive last season. MLB has a huge drug problem, the testing they do now is a joke. The only way MLB will ever get the drugs out of the game are to increase the penalties for failing a drug test. A suspension of a couple games isn't going to scare any of these player. What MLB needs to do is say a positive test gets public exposure, and the player suspended for a year. Do it again, and you're on the list with Joe Jackson and Pete Rose. Teams need to be held responsible for their players also, as a team should be heavily penalized monetarily. If owners started getting fines in the $100,000's of thousands on each occurance, they would start policing their own players, and the drugs would quickly vanish.

I hate to think that players today are running up statistics and setting records that they could have never accomplished without the use of these drugs. Steroids were never really connected to sports prior of the 70's, and even then, it was mostly football players using them. Guys like Ruth, Mantle, Mays, Aaron... they were clean when they put up all their numbers. Although, Mantle was drunk or hung-over some days, I can't see how that could be seen as a performance enhancer. I'd hate to see a guy like Bonds break Aaron's record and then for it to come out later than he used steroids, even for a minute, during his career.
  • The only thing that matters is that he is on my fantasy team.

    Hello all.
  • I love that Flame Warriors website. The first time I read it I suffered uncontrollable laughter for at least 40 minutes.
