What has happened with the 1916-D mercury dime?

Is demand finally outstripping supply? It seems that supply has dried up slightly but demand has grown two or three-fold?

It seems that prices are escalating upwards in nearly all grades except the high mint state grades which had already appreciated plenty enough in the past 5 years.

I watched one on ebay that a member on here had for auction a month or 2 ago. It went absolutely NUTS. I think it was a VG10.

I have been SO tempted to unload ALL of my stuff.

Short of someone finding multiple bags somewhere, prices will continue to soar.

Oreville, I foresee the very same thing happening to the 1932-D&S Quarters in the not too distant

future. Right now people can still find MS pieces but pretty soon people will be fortunate to wind up

    with a VG-10 1932-D...and a few others. I'll give you a prime example...THE sleeper within the series..

I believe it is Breen 4270 1934 Type 1...same hub as 1932. Estimated coined, 500,000-putting it right

    there with the 32-D & S.image

I was looking at some Heritage files on 32-D quarters. If you get the chance check out the difference in price on the 32-D from 1998 to now. UNBELIEVABLE. Back in a bit folks- hot bath calling.image

BTW Cam40-right on about the 36-D. They're much tougher to find in MS than the 32-D and there is a very good rather obvious reason why if you just think about it for a bit! In a bit..............

It seemed the 16-d dime didn't go up as much from the start when 1916 quarters and 09-s vdb's started flying up. I think it is catching up. I think the 1856 flying eagle could be the one lagging behind now. 32-d quarters were the first ones to go way up. All of these are so much more than they used to be I can't see how they could go up anymore, but that's what I was thinking 6 months ago too! How about 01-s quarters in G. Something like under 2000 to 4500 or more in such a short time. Crazy.
