redemtion haven't expired either...how do you feel about the 54 set?
Kevin
i got drug into the heritage 2004 from you and others on the board and really liked the retro look. i purchased several boxes, still not a complete set.
when i saw the 2003 today, i wondered if i should purchase or not. i have been out of card business since 89 and now that my youngest boy (8) is now taking interest, he is getting me hooked as well. at least that's what i'm telling my wife...
Thanks,
David (LD_Ferg)

My fear with a box like that is when it was produced - if a late box - like this year - they may contain nothing worth having - autos and gu's used up on earlier packaging. What do you think? Something else to endure - the centering is very bad on the 54 set and I don't think you can return a bunch for exchange - new packs yes. I returned OC's late in the game and they gave me this years packs. That was OK with me.

Now that was a great pull - I'm green with envy!!!
edit
tell me that one is for trade...dang..nice pull!
I still have the Yogi redemption...haven't sent it in yet, the 54 Yogi is such a classic pose. Im really addiced
to the old vintage look. 2001 heritage was a blockbuster set, boxes are like 250 bucks now, I swear I will
open another of those before I die...maybe do a live bust here. Can you believe that they stuffed into that
product 25 Willie Mays Autoproofs! For those of you who don't know what that is, topps bought 25
actual 1952 Mays cards, had Willie Sign them and then certified them! Stuff like that just doesn't happen anymore!
Oh and did I meantion the pack price...no not 500 bucks,not 100 bucks not 50 or 20 or 10....2.99!!!!!
I really liked the design the next year in 2002.....just like the 53 set which I think is great...well since
a certain collector isn't here I will mention that the cards are the size today and not the size then! The
02's also had Laynce Nix, whose card will be getting very valuable soon!
Stone brings up a good point, many late boxes didn't have autos in them as I think topps ran out, but
with this box you never know, heck I think it would be worth buying just to have some cards from
that set...heck you might just HAVE to have them...You also get a crack at Bonds, who doesn't have
any cards in 2004 and sadly is not in the 04 heritage set.
Welp probably more than you wanted to know! Ive emailed Arthur Shorin the same time every year
to tell him how great heritage is, this is the first year he emailed back! LOL

Yes I am green with envy - Yogi is a favorite of mine - the guy is priceless - I guess everyone knows the pizza story - after a game he, mickey, roger go into a pizza joint and each orders their own pizza - the waitress says to Yogi: "Yogi, do you want your pizza sliced into 6 or 8 slices" Yogi thinks for a minute and says: "Better make it 6, I don't think I can eat 8 slices"
Now that's classic!
Kevin
I really liked the 53T design - with the sp backgrounds! Really looking forward to the 57 design!
God how did we get on this again - heritage - ya gotta love it!

<< <i>AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Did someone mention Aaron auto of 54!! Please
tell me that one is for trade...dang..nice pull!

LOL! Nope, not for trade. It's in my permanent collection. Not to make you feel any worse, but Topps actually screwed up and sent me 2 by mistake. Luckily, they sent them to a guy who wouldn't dream of keeping the extra one. I sent it back to them, but man did it feel pretty cool holding two of them in my hands.

Mike

for the next few years heritage collectors have an awful lot to look forward to. the 56 57 and 58 heritage should be awesome, the 58 set is probably my least favorite of the three but it will probably be a great challenge with the yellow letter variations.
i usually buy a couple of cases and complete the master set but for the 57 set i plan on buying at least 3 or 4 cases and do the complete chrome , grandstand glory and the auto set. i look forward to pulling a brooks robinson red ink auto, i have a team topps auto of the 57 frank robinson already and it is a beauty.
another nice heritage auto, At one time I wanted to get all the 01 heritage autos I could, I have a set
of all 24 retired players, its funny because beckett still lists the Larry Doby, when he never signed. I have
about 15 extra of the 2001 autos, Arod and Hildalgo are the only non-retired players, it was hard to pull
them from the retail becuase they were easily searched, something everyone should know if they are
buying 2001 heritage. Luckly topps made adjustments the next year and they can't be searched, or at
least searched easily.
revjon...you are better man than I! I would of not sent the extra back, I have been screwed so many times
by topps it isn't even funny, now that isn't what I am told in church to do, but I really think I would of
kept it, or at least waited until topps asked for it back! That Aaron auto has to be one of the most
desirable cards in the whole heritage run....I have a special love for the rookie autos that heritage
has done such a great job in getting. It would of been nice to have Koufax this year, but Killebrew
was great.
2006 heritage will be loaded! The rookie class is amazing and it will be interesting to see what topps
will do with that. Its great hearing the feedback by the vintage collector, giving me and others a heads
up at how the sets were composed back in the original year. Part of the fun are the parallels between
the two sets which many of us can learn of.
It will also be interesting to see topps heritage when they get to the year 1963, this is a very popular
set but has already been done by UD. Hopfully topps will try better to get the actual photos to look
vintage unlike what UD did.
Maybe what this thread needs is some scans! Ill see if I can't get something up.I would love to see that
Aaron!

I called them and spoke to a very nice woman name Jenniffer. I told her about what had happened and that I wanted to send the card back, and just wanted them to refund the shipping cost. They sent me some packs and a Luis Aparicio auto, so I was pretty pleased. Box cost me $29.99 and I sold the double SP's I got for just under $28. So basically for a little over a buck, I got an Aaron and Aparicio auto. I collect HOF autos and didn't have either, so it was really quite a deal.
Interesting thing is, I send in for NPN's all the time. Like most others, I usually get the basic $5-$15 insert when I get one back. Few months later there is an envelope in my mailbox from Duryea. It's the Finest NPN I sent in. I open the package and out comes a Willie Mays auto. Perhaps my name is on some sort of "good" list of theirs )
I'll try to get a scan up here. I know how to do it over at Beckett, but obviously haven't tried one here yet....
