These are right up Lord Minivan's alley, so I think I'll allow him the honors. image Technically, these are "holed" coins; there are also coins intentionally made with a central holes and so might be better termed "holey" coins. imageimage

Well, I call holed coins "holeys", and I am The Holey Of Holeys, so it's all right!

If you got that hole, um, whole lot for seven bucks, I'd say you did well indeed. There's some neat stuff in there.

#1- too dark for me to tell.

    #2- British threepence, 18??

#3- 1/4 real from some South American country, not too sure

    #4- British sixpence, 18??

    #5- Panama 1/10 Balboa, 1930

#6- Greece, 1 drachma, 1833 (relatively hard to find, even holed)

    #7- Bolivia, 1 sol, 1830-JL

#8- German States (Hanover), 1/12 thaler, 1843(?) (I can't quite read the date in the picture)

#9-Danish West Indies, 5 cents (again, can't read the date from the small picture, but should be 1878 or 1879)

#10-Mexico, maybe one real, 1822, from the Empire of Iturbide period, and clearly from the State of Chiapas (I don't know exactly what it is, but find it very intriguing, and some stuff from that period is scarce. A lot of it was holed. Very neat piece!)

#11-Hungary(?) 3 kreuzer, from the late 1600's. I can see the portrait of ol' Leopold the Hogmouth. The coin should be dated, but I can't make out enough details from the picture.

#12- Great Britain, threepence, 1887 (young head/non-jubilee issue)

#13-Spain, 50 centimos, presumably 1896, though again, I can't make out the date in the picture.

All of it silver, and old- a nice lot!

Hmm. Why didn't I see that when I flipped through the section on Guatemala?
