Help with GAI card

I know this is the PSA forum, but I need help. It seems that long time PSA collectors and dealers seem to have a heads-up on GAI stuff. What I need help on is a GAI 9.5 Marino rookie. How much is it worth compared to PSA. Are they worth half? are the standards as good, easier? I'm just curious, I now own a GAI 9.5 Marino Rookie and I "HOPE" I didn't make a mistake.. Thanks Guys..

If you are refering to the 95 that recently sold on Ebay then I think you did pretty good. PSA, BGS and GAI(when there is enough to compare) all seem to stack up very close on most anything made after 1980. Earlier than that PSA does laps around the others.
If a card is dropping 2 grades on a cross I have to question why you would crack it out when a review in the holder would tell you that you will be destroying value?
Here is an example of GAI pricing that I found in the Beckett. Take it for what it's worth.
I happen to have this card in a GAI 9.5
86 Donruss The Rookies
BGS 9.5 $350
PSA 10 $250
GAI 9.5 $150
I don't have a football beckett handy but I would say a GAI 9.5 is probably close to SMR on a PSA 10. (If Beckett were pricing it) maybe 10-15% less.
My eBay Store
BigCrumbs! I made over $250 last year!
<< <i>PSA SGC and GAi are in my opinion all legitimate companies with a strong secondary market. Go to any major show and GAI is fastly becoming the second most seen grading company, in leading dealers cases. this tells me they see them as legitimate, unlike another company that many group as a big 4 but you almost never see on dealers tables (THERE IS AREASON FOR THIS MOST BIGTIME DEALERS KNOW THIS COMPANY LETS TRIMMED CARDS THROUGH) BUT GAI PSA AND SGC ALL SEEM TO BE ON THE UP AND UP AT THIS POINT. so i would try to cross it if you only collect psa or are looking to sell short term but if you are holding it for the long term i dont think leaving it in the gai holder would be a bad move. >>
That's good advice, GP, and I fully agree with both your observations of the "up and coming" of GAI on dealer tables and the fact that they are part of a "top three" and there is no "4th" company! No here!
PSA 9 Rice Rookie $176.52
BGS 9 Rice Rookie $310.00
GEM 9 Rice Rookie $50.99
This GAI 9 ended at $187.50!!, very strong compared to PSA. Also last month a PSA 9 Emmitt Smith 101T sold for $62.51, the GAI 9 ended at $76.00. Almost another surprize.. I totally agree, I'm going to leave it in the GAI holder and forget about it. Maybe, just maybe, It was a great investment. Later on I may look real smart or have been real stupid.. Either way, it's still a great card..
