Will an MS67 2004-P Jefferson Peace ever be found?

Well I have gone through 100 rolls now of both the P and D's and I must say that I do not believe that the 2004-P peace will yield any MS67's. I don't think I have any that can cut the muster. The strikes are weak, lots of marks from the planchets and some device the mint has really creates canyons on many of the coins. The D's are so much better and I probably have a handfull of MS67 candidates. Any other experiences?

My best is getting a suntan right now. I think it's going to be tough but someone is going to find one imo. C.

I looked at a bag of D's and came up with a little over a roll of 64/65 coins, nothing better.

found an interesting error, two depressions (down from the field surface) just behind the end of the France arm

  • Hi all. I went thru a thousand coin bag from each mint. I submitted 3 p and 2 d coins. I'll be lucky if I see anything better than 65. If the fields were fairly clean the jawline or temple area were beat up on the obverse or the hands and cuffs of the reverse were nicked. I think the mint sold overpriced bags of junk with theseimage. Especially the philly minted coins! The rolls I've looked at were no better. I guess we hope for better in the mint setsimage.

From looking through a $50 bag of P and a $50 bag of D, I was able to get the following:

    D: (1) PCGS MS65 (7) PCGS MS66

    P: (1) PCGS MS65 (2) PCGS MS66

There were NO MS67 coins in the bags and the coins above were the best out of the 1000 coins in each bag.

    Thanks,

    Tim

  • I agree with the mintset thing. almost all of the high grades are found there. I havent seen a medal nickel myself, cant wait to get the silver proofsets, I am way behind in that too(need 2002 and 2003)

This just proves that the high grade coins don't come from rolls or bags anymore; they can only be found in mint sets.
