Do you ask for feedback?

No big deal, but with ebay's new "my ebay" that I woke up this morning, you are able to tell people that you've sold to and see if they left feedback.

I noticed several that didn't. As a seller I always leave it the moment I get payment. I guess lots of folks don't bother. I'm gonna start asking.
I ship super fast, so I can't see reason for negative. Ever ask for feedback?

Only if the feedback says "OMG Love this buyer/seller asset to ebay wonderful truly a pleasure to deal with would do business anytime!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111" (80 character max). I live for the cheesy feedback.

I've found the best time to leave feedback is to let it build up and do about 20 or 30 at 3 AM after getting back from the bar. Very creative language that somehow made sense at the time.
  • Ebay's mind works like this. "Let me see, things are going great! let me change everything! I hate the new my ebay. I tried it about three weeks ago and went back to the old one the same night.
  • I must correct something here. One god thing about the new my ebay is that it tells you how many people are watching your auction, so if it has zero bids, you know that there is a chance it may get bids, or if there may be a bidding war.

Yeah, I lose a lot of auctions, and the number listed on Didn't Win under Buying is huge. I deleted all the items now and keep them deleted, but everytime I log back into eBay, on the My eBay page, it says I have 69 auctions not won. When i click on it, there are none listed. This has gotta be a joke put in by one of the programmers.

  • I still have a low rating (54) so I ask if the buyer/seller hasn't left any feedback. Usually after I leave feedback for them.

I am probably a minority here but I leave my feedback all at once every couple weeks. It is easier to do a copy and paste on 150 auctions then to do a few each day. One guy bugged my every day for a week to leave him his feedback until he seemed rather upset. I told him that since he was so pissed about it, I wasn't going to leave him feedback because if I left him a positive, he would have dropped me a negative just over the whole feedback thing. I think that some people are obsessing themselves with feedback rating. I can understand if your feedback is low and you want to raise it but to cop an attitude about something minor on a successfully completed transaction is stupid. There are people starving in the world and others dying of diseases and they get mad over a +1 on their feedback? They need to put things into perspective. I figure if the leave me a positive, then great, if not, who gives a !#@%. After you already have a ton of feedback, then it just becomes a pride thing at that point.

I leave feedback all the time when I buy something, and I wish everyone did the same. The feedback left section of MyEbay is the only way for me to keep track of what I have actually received.

nope. I've never asked for feedback.

I care more about it as a seller than a buyer
  • wabbitwax- like I said....no big deal

Yeah, I wasn't referring to you. I was just posting about some ebayers in general. I'm just venting some past frustrations, lol.
  • I use to add a note in every package that I sent. I stopped doing that. I leave feedback when I buy, but I no longer ask when I sell.

When I started out, I would notify buyers when I shipped, noting that "I have left you positive feedback - I hope you can do the same for me." I've developed too many pet peeves regarding feedback to ask for it any more. If it comes it comes, if it don't it don't. Sellers who hold feedback hostage never get my business back. The quickest feedback response I've ever gotten was from an NPB! Didn't answer my e-mails, invoices, nothing - but he sure acted fast when he got the neg! Feedback is a source of info and nothing more - it's pretty much a joke, IMHO.

  • I mostly buy, don't sell much. I pay pretty fast and expect feedback when the payment is received, if nothing else, so I know they got the money.

Once I get the card, IF they left me feedback already, I leave it for them. If not, I just send them a note that I got the card, but don't leave any feedback. If the seller doesn't have the common courtesy and the decency to leave feedback once my part of the transaction is complete, he/she doesn't get any from me. It's that simple. If they are so worried about a negative that they wait until I post a positive first, they need to change their business practices. The ONLY exception I make is for the Ice King. I guess they do things backwards in Canada or something. They are true superstars and if they want feedback first, so be it. Everyone else, don't get no slack!
