Confusing SLQ

Look at this.

Doesn't look like a 1916 from the double strand of hair, but the reverse is a variety 1. What gives?

On a 1916, the head should break the beading around the rim of the coin, this one doesn't appear to do so.

No confusion, this coin is a fake. The bidders are stupid/greedy too. The real 1916 SLQ never comes at a bargain price. The the high bidder is willing to spend $2,000 + on a coin he knows nothing about. He is buying way above his ability and knowledge and will just get burned. A fool and his money are soon departed.

<< <i>A fool and his money are soon parted. >>

But I've always wondered how they ever got together in the first place!

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

Good question kranky. I blame it on luck. Maybe he got a big tax refund and wants to blow in on an "investment" coin. image

I just read your handle. It really applies to this coin. Educate yourself first because there are people who will take advantage of you.

It's a poor cast countefeit. No more, no less. An ACG authenticator and his money are soon parted. LEGAL NOTICE: the aforementioned quote is my personal opinion only, and should not be considered to insult ACG in any way whatsoever.
