Can't get in no matter which way I try. No links work and there is no login box. I wanted to check my status on a few lots, but now I may just give up.

Just talked to them and their server crashed.
They are going to add some time, or extend, depending on when it is back up. Rob told me they wouldn't lock anyone out because of this.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

Just got off the phone about 5 mins ago with Brian. He sounded so exasperated. Said it had never happened before that their servers locked. He said they may add more time and extend until tomorrow. They are trying to reach their IT guy but are not having luck.

I tried several times this evening and had problems, but I just got on 5 minutes ago and it went fine. Even if the server crashed for as long as an hour, I can't see how they could justify extending it an extra day especially when they still have phones open. That's bogus and they'll lose a customer for life if that happens.

I could not get in either...I tried with about 45 minutes left....then gave up.

This is ridiculous, for those of us on the East coast I'm not going to stay up until 1 am bidding on baseball cards because a server crashed. They just lost several thousand dollars of my bids.

I got into the Mile High Auction, just having trouble getting into the Mile High Club.

1967and 1973 Topps baseball wantlists (any condition) welcome. Once had the #14 ATF 1967 set. Yet another collector like skylaneflyer, gimel1 who made it to the completion of 1967 only to need the money more than the company of 609 close friends.
Looking for oddball Norm Cash and Cleon Jones stuff, and 1956 team cards

Auction has been extended due to technical problems last night

It was extended an extra hour and a half but it's over now. I've already been invoiced for several cards I won.

    Keith -
I'm assuming you were going for the 74 Ryan? This about it like this - which one would you rather have, that card in a 10 or the 93 Refractor in a 9? Both will probably end up costing around the same - it's a tough choice, and I wish I were actually able to make a choice like that right now! Give me a couple of years though and I'll be right up there wasting money with the best of them. Those refractors are just so damn shiny...

  • For those that took part in the auction (and had the patience to wait out the server problems), how did you guys fare? What did you guys win and what did you make a run at, but were outbid? I pretty much hit all my targets...

'52 Bowman Large Tom Landry PSA 10
'74 Topps Willie McCovey PSA 10
'82 Topps Anthony Munoz PSA 10

I really extended my means for that Landry card, but I wasn't about to go down without a fight! That's one hell of a card.

Is the auction over already? I thought for sure they would extend the auction for one more day. I wonder whether everyone got the opportunity to make all their bids.
  • The server was back up and running at about 11:30pm EST- in which the auction was extended one hour to 12:30am EST. I thought for sure they'd extend it another day, but fortunately I stayed up and got the cards I wanted. I do know a lot of people missed out/gave up, and that's unfortunate because there should have been better communication by MHCC on what their intentions were after their server crashed.

I won three cards - a '67 Maz PSA 9 (got it at pretty much market price), '67 Frank Robinson PSA 9 (overpaid somewhat - but's the best one I've ever seen) and a high ticket card that's a killer (great price considering what it has sold for in the past). I put in minimum bids in at 10:15 Central time -- and all three bids didn't move after that. I'm still in shock I won high ticket card. It sold for nearly $2000 less than it has in the past. I couldn't be happier that I won it, and I've wanted it for years, but now all I have to do is figure out how to pay for it. image

Thanks! I'm pretty pumped up about it. There's only two PSA 10s in that entire set. One is the Landry and the other is a common.

In the Superior auction earlier this year, I came away with that '53 Bowman Color Musial PSA 9. That was another beauty- and a borderline PSA 10. The Landry will make a very nice addition.

    Soflsportsnut:

Any reason you did not pursue the Landry PSA 10 the first time it was up for auction? I don't recall the exact auction - but I think it was Mastro or something a few years back (2-3?). I don't recall the final hammer price - but I guess it was bought by someone looking to flip...

With the high high dollar cards, it seems like you either know in advance who will win the card - or you see the card again a few years later...
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

I actually just got back into the hobby last summer after taking an extended leave of absence. I just did some research and the Landry did sell in an auction in 2000 for $12,641...

I think it is a great investment....with only 2 PSA 10s in the whole set....I would think that Landry will be a POP 1 for quite awile.

    Oh yea....Welcome to the boards!

Do you have any sets registered yet?
  • I don't do much in the way of sets. I generally focus on singles, preferably low POP. There's actually a '59 Fleer Ted Williams set all graded in PSA 9 on ebay (#2 set in PSA set registry) that I was giving a serious look at, but last night's auction pretty much killed any chance at that! This hobby is friggin expensive, so when I do step up with a big purchase, I'm pretty much done for a while! Ted Williams is my favorite old time baseball player and I always loved the '59 Fleer set, but alas, I'll have to settle for the Landry. image

I've been lurking on these boards a while and decided that today would be a good day to come out and introduce myself. You guys seem like a cool bunch of people. Looking forward to talking the hobby with everybody.
