Ebay problem-need opinions

Sold a card on ebay, got the money order on 5-6 and left positive feedback, mailed the card out a day or two after.

He left positive feedback on 5-17, now 5-19 I get this message from him

Dear Sir; On May 3, 2004 I sent a money order for 32.25 to purchase a Priest Holmes 1999 Ultra Platinum. You left feedback on May 6, 2004 that you received the money order. I have not received the card. I in error left feedback that I had received the car. Please check and see when card was mailed. Thanks ASPB4.

Also I origionally offered insurance but he did not opt to pay for it. How would you handle this?

I can't see doing anything for this buyer under these circumstances unless you regularly deal with this buyer (and know they're not trying to scam you). As the seller, you offered to insure the card and the buyer declined, you mailed it in good faith to the address the buyer provided, I would imagine you also put a return address on there as well. The post office doesn't lose too much mail, and it sounds like it has been long enough that you would have received the card back had it been undeliverable, so you must assume it was delivered to the address. You could not possibly have done any more than that in this instance. Just my two cents.
  • did you go to the post office and mail the package or just drop it in the mail box?

did you write the address clearly and use permanent marker?

On that same day, he negged someone else for non-delivery. Sounds like he has a problem getting his mail. Or maybe both packages arrived the same day and someone raided his mail box?

Either way - not your problem. Answer his question - tell him when you shipped it - and consider this transaction over.

  • Mailed from PO box, all my other packages seemed to arrive fine.
I don't really understand how he accidentally left me positive feedback?
  • Wow, how did you find the auction without the auction #?

    Anyway thanks for the info.
  • I always spend the $0.45 for the delivery confirmation. Also, if you use click-n-ship, the confirmation is free!

I just mailed out a card today for a guy who left me postitive feedback last night!!!

As for this: "Wow, how did you find the auction without the auction #?" - your initial post listed the card and the closing amount; easy to go into advanced search on eBay and match up the auction with the card.

Didn't mean to steal SDavids thunder, and I agree with what he says - politely give him the info he requests and don't getting into it about the feedback.

Actually I just looked up the buyer's username, which was at the end of the original post. The rest was easy.
