This message is to inform you that Mr.Ralph Macchia a.k.a.Netfan5(Ebay id:basecardking) is a liar and a thief.
This story is a bit long but please let me speak my peace so that others don't have to deal with this despicable person.
On May 2nd,2004 a person with the Ebay user id basecardking won a 2003-04 Ultimate Collection Zoran Planinic autographed rookie card(#4127042310).
The buyer paid via Paypal on May 4th,2004 and the card was shipped out on May 7th,2004
I did not send with delivery confirmation but I do have the receipt that shows the buyers city, state and zip.
This person contacted me on May 16th,2004 and asked me to leave feedback.
I emailed him back and said I would prefer it if he left it first. My reasoning was that he left some bad feedback for a previous transaction because he didn't care for that person's shipping rates and I wasn't about to leave something positive for him and then get slammed because he didn't care for my shipping rates as well.
So after telling him that he said that he would be taking it up with Paypal because he hadn't received his card yet.
I told him to feel free to do what he had to do but that he didn't take insurance and that it was really out of my hands at that time.
Now is where it gets good. After doing some searching I found that Netfan5 was posting on the CU boards on May 16th,2004 and asking people to rate his Zoran Planinic collection. And guess what card he had listed there. The one he claimed to have never gotten! Now granted he could have a duplicate of the one he won from me,but on his list he had an incoming section with cards listed that he was waiting to get in from people. That list made no mention of an Ultimate Collection Zoran auto rookie he was supposedly waiting for.
After putting two and two together I contacted him and told him about figuring out that he was Netfan5 on the CU boards.
Well he had the nerve to deny that it was him even though in another post he was mentioned by name by another CU board member.I contacted this board member and asked if this was indeed the person I suspected it was and was told that it was!
Now since I didn't send it with delivery confirmation this little scammer and liar will most likely get his money back because Paypal will take his side and not mine.
Stay away from this person and make sure to put him on your blocked bidders list on Ebay.
P.S.-This person also has a trading website with this gem listed under his trader rules:
"Buy/Sell Policy:If you buy from me and you choose not to pay for/use
insurance I am not responsible for lost or damaged mail. This is my policy
and if you don't like it don't bother & don't waste my time."
I guess this person doesn't believe in practicing what he preaches!

It sounded like the tell tale signs were there before he even lied to you. Leaving negative feedback for shipping rates that he well knew in advance that he was going to pay...bad character to say the least.
The guy hung himself when he asked you for feedback. If he asked for feedback, then it is assumed he got the item otherwise he would have just emailed you wondering where the item is. True scam artist. He really tried to squeeze you for more money.

This person has lied so much he can't keep his stories straight and I have more then proven him to be a liar.
As a seller, I leave feedback as soon as payment is recieved for an item. At that point, the buyer has fulfilled their end of the agreement and it's all up to me from there.
Secondly, it's freakin eBay feedback. Who cares how many "A+ Wonderful seller asset to eBay would deal with again OMG ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111" 's do you need? If I'm buying a card from someone with 99% feedback with a few random negatives, I usually feel ok about it.
Third - who is Zoran Planicic? This is probably the most attention he has ever received and I bet he's just flattered to be at the eye of this little storm.
I don't like the fact that I would have done something good for this person and then get slammed for no good reason because he has a h*rd-on over shipping charges.
Plus the fact that he has lied over and over again about who he is proves a lot about his character.
OOPS just saw the part where you acknowledged he may try to get his money back via paypal
And I might have even considered giving a refunded but this person has lied to me several times and has been caught so I don't believe anything he has to say.
I feel he got the card and for whatever reason wanted to pull a fast one and get his money back as well.
Shipping rates via USPS First Class range from $.86 to $1.37, USPS Priority Mail is $3.85 without insurance, shipping charges should never be more than $2.00 USPS First Class or $4.50 USPS Priority Mail without insurance. That more than covers the bubble mailer and the postage, anything else is pocket money and people tend to complain about that.
Also as a seller taking Paypal, to avoid being screwed by PayPal always add on the Delivery Confirmation, its only $.45 and will save you enormous amounts of grief.
It always sucks to run into transactions like these, but if you roll your dice on Ebay, your going to get your fair share of "snake eyes". If you do get a negative feedback from someone, just post an unemotional factual response and you will be just fine.

Collecting Nolan Ryan cards (68-94)
Many people have commented about how securely my cards are packed so I feel that price is very fair.
Plus I do offer discounts for multiple cards.
He was someone who had 5 feedback points at the time and on one of them he was complaining about someone's shipping charges which were similar to mine so that is why I waited.
Now it's past the point of feedback. It's to the point that this person has been caught in numerous lies and I don't believe him for one moment when he says he never got it.
Its the people who charge $5.00+ for First Class shipping and sometimes you don't even get the bubble mailer that should be worried about shipping cost complaints.
