RANDY JOHNSON HAS A PERFECT GAME THRU 6 INNINGS!!!!!!!!!

Comments

  • I hope he gets it because so few of baseball's perfect games have been done by great pitchers. The only one's I remember off hand that were legends were Cy Young and Sandy Koufax. Not someone that David Fat Wells. Koufax's perfecto was even more interesting since the Cubs pitcher only allowed 1 hit, a homerun, winning the game for the Dodgers and making that the lowest amount of hits in one game, 1. I guess you can have a game where neither team gets a hit and the winning team scores on errors or walks. That's the weird/amazing thing about baseball.
  • Going perfect into the 9TH!!!!!!!!!

Hey Dragon Attack,Did you ever spin Another one bites the dust backwards on the turntable?Do it at the end "Another one bites the dust" where it's just Freddie's voice and a clap.image

I thought this was a big no no during a perfect game. You're not supposed to talk about it.image

When Mussina almost pitched a perfect game in Boston the post came up here then I think Carl Everett broke it up.
  • I actually tried that with the vinyl of their greatest hits on ABTD. Al I heards was ABTD backwards. I always wondered why these priests are busy playing records backwards like stairway to heaven. Weird. I'm anti superstition when it comes to perfect games and no hitters. I like to go face to face with superstiotion and beat hit. I mentioned the perfecto after 6 innings and he is now 3 outs away. I also wanted to mention it so if people aren't watching, they have the opportunity to watch history.
  • Dragon Attack would have been a better name than thegradinator.

Nope. You didn't hear it.It's plain as day and deliberate.I never did it on any other recording but the game album and couldn't believe my ears.

Great Deacon solo on Dragon attack, too bad it's lyrics are Freddie on the freak prowl.
  • WOW! Lucky 13 strikeouts!
  • WOW - He did it!!!

I will have to go to my box and take out The game and check it out one day. I'll have to buy a record player now. I haven't used one in about 10 years.
  • he can now add "The Perfect Unit" to his Nicknames.

way to finish on a K image
  • One of his 9th inning pitches was 97 MPH that miles, not Kilometers!

At least the Braves can feel good that they left no baserunners and Ted Turner can feel good about AOL taking the Braves away from him.

I just realized something else. He is now the 4th pitcher to throw nohitters in both leagues, Cy Young, Nolan Ryan, Hideo Nomo.

  • You're welcome quality cards and Wayne. History should never be kept quiet (try telling that to George Bush) I feel if he were going to get a perfecto, it was going to be regardless of what I say.

Edited to add He is also the oldest perfect game man, and it is the first perfect game this century!. Three centuries of perfect games now in Baseball.

Watched the entire game - he was un-friggin-hittable tonight. Hated to see my Braves go down, but it was hard to not root for him to get it after the seventh inning. Forty years old and throwing 97 mph fastballs and Carlton like down and in sliders that were baffling. Absolutely awesome performance !!

...and the last NL perfecto since Martinez of the Expos did it 13 years ago.
The last time the Braves fell victims to a perfect game was 25 years ago to Forsch.
It was also the D'Backs 1st Perfecto in their history on their 1009 game - I paid attention
to the broadcast during my inning. Skip Caray is a good announcer, in fact he's the only thing
    I like about Braves baseball...jay

Wow, what a performance. Too bad I missed it. I did watch his 20 SO performance a few years back. The guy is amazing. If anyone thought he was in decline, this proves he's still got it.
  • I think Randy Johnson is one of those pitchers that would be great in any era. He probably would have been even greater back 100 years ago with the players a little shorter and smaller. They should do a commercial with him pitching to Babe Ruth and striking him out.

I love that commercial a couple years back where I think he's firing dodge balls at people.

The closest I've seen The Big Unit was at Shea in 2002.Shawn Estes was actually perfect through 4 innings and Randy broke up his no hitter and pitched shut out ball.Nice game to see in person but nothing like perfection.

I saw the Big Unit once and it sure was memorable, at the All Star Game in Baltimore 10 years ago.
He was pitching to Kruk and let 1 rip over Kruks head behind him, Kruk patted his heart to see if he still was alive and barely waved at the next pitch for strike 3. Both players let out a big grin! It was great to see these guys have some fun!...jay

    ROIDS!!! ROIDS!!!

lol Nobody in there 40's can throw a perfect game without some extra 'help'. Come on, get your heads out of the sand. No 3-4 pitcher can just stroll to the mound and throw a perfect game! Get real! It's the JUICE!!! He must have super-sized his juice between starts.

Yeah, and if Soriano was playing, the perfect game would have been over in the first inning! lol

Ok, what do ya think? How close was I to a genuine JoeStalin post? The only noteworthy difference is that I can spell and JoeS has no clue on spelling (or on other matters as well)

Yeah, I caught the last two innings on TBS. The guy is a stud.

I got to see the Big Unit debut at home for the Astros several years ago at the Astrodome when they picked him up from Seattle. He made the Phillies look silly. It's a shame he chose not to stay in Houston.

Yup..that was one heck of a performanceimage

I picked it up in the third inning. Since there was nothing on ebay that I was watching, and feeling that the CU Forums could do without me for one eveningimage , I decided it would be a nice time to sit back, relax and watch a game...not even dreaming about what was in storeimage

The Unit just made it look so darned easy, it was almost, I hate to admit, boring. That is, until about the sixth inning when it began to dawn about what he was doing.

Now, if only The Rocket can get oneimage
