45 nickle error need help

Hi gang, i have a 45 nickle P with an error i am not sure about. I cannot get my camera to take a picture so i will try to describe it. To tyhec right of the 5 in 1945 it looks like the metal is flaking off. two strips going into jeff 's hair to his collar on the reverse there is the same flaking on the bottom right side of the memorial next to the rim. Any idea if this is normal or something to keep. Thye coin is probably a VF 35.

Without some good pics of what you are describing, it is impossible to know what, if anything, may be up with the coin.

Sounds like a lamination. These are relatively common on warnicks.

It's a lamination. Like this one. Only this one is a bit more dramatic.

I should add that there is not much of a premium for these in general. However, I personally find them interesting and keep them all when I find them.

I agree, and it's because of the manganese which doesn't bond well with the other metals. Wonder if the same thing will start happening to the Sacs? image
