What are the most valuable cards graded by each of the major grading companies?

Just curious. We all know that the most valuable card PSA has graded is the T206 Honus Wagner PSA 8. This card sold for $1.2 million and has offers upwards of $2 million

What is the most valuable card graded by SGC?

Wagner SGC 1?
Bronco Nagurski?
51 Mantle SGC 9?

What is the most valuable card graded by GAI?

koby - Based on sale prices the SGC 1 Wagner sold for $92,000 which would make it the highest SGC card.
Not certain what the highest priced sale of a GAI card would be although in a Mastro auction there was a 51 Bowman Mays that was graded by both SGC 9 and GAI 9 and sold for around $45,000 I think.
  • What about PRO, PGI, and Snaggletooth? I'm sure they've each graded a few Gem Mint T206 and Goudeys.
Baseball Card Heaven, the closest card shop to the Las Vegas Strip.

Our current ebay auctions, and of course BaseBallCardHeaven.com
  • An SGC 96 Bronco Nagurski sold for 85k about a year ago.

Funny you shuld mention PRO. I remember SCD ads only a few years ago tauting PRO as being the equivalent of PSA. What a joke! There was a minor league Ken Griffey Jr card that was graded PRO 10 "Pristine" that sold for $10000 (?) or $5000 PC might remember better. I sure hope that was the highest price ever paid for one of those cards.

I'm not sure what it's "worth" but at the KC show this weekend I saw a GAI Perfect 10 Lew Alcindor rookie. Unbelievable how nice that card was. I noted SMR was 7k in Mint 9. It's certainly not a 1.2 million dollar card, but it's got to be in the high "tens-of-thousands".

Interesting topic... If I would've seen a thread like this before I went to the show I would've asked Steve Rocchi at the show.

Some guy off the street walked into the GAI building a couple months ago with a T206 Eddie Plank
card. Steve Rocchi couldn't believe it.....it graded an "8". Wonder how much that would fetch?
Apparently this individual said to also have the Wagner and Steve told him to bring it in.

Speaking of the GAI T206 Plank - does anybody know what ever happened to the Plank graded GAI authentic in the Robert Edwards
Auction that was re-backed and taken out of the auction. Was it destroyed?

    Koby:

It is important to note that the SGC 1 Wagner was formerly in a PSA 1 holder. Just notable to understand the history of that card - it was the first Wagner SGC ever graded....

Also, as for GAI, I'm not sure what the public auction circuit looks like, but a noted collector owns the *only* GEM MINT Nolan Ryan rookie card, graded GAI 9.5

Not sure what that would bring in auction - but I guarantee you that if it were in a PSA holder, the price would be absolutely astronomical, as it is the last major post-war HOF rookie that has yet to 10. (The Reggie PSA 10 had a private offer exceeding six figures, as I understand it....)
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

Do you know whether the GAI 9.5 1968 Ryan was formerly a PSA 9 1968 Ryan?

BMS has a SGC 96 1937 O-Pee-Chee Batter-Up Joe DiMaggio (such a complicated name for such a simple thing) on their website with a $150,000 price tag.

I almost forgot those guys when I was thinking about this question. I found the Nagurski and Mantle from the SGC website Hall of Fame.

The Dimaggio is listed for $150000

There is also a Kelly card listed for $150000, although it was purchased not long ago for only $6000. I believe there is question surrounding this card and whether it has been "improved."

The Kelly card is a PSA 9, obviously not the most valuable PSA card. With crossover, though, the Wagner would become the most valuable card for any grading company, even Snaggletooth. I think you're right about the Kelly controversy. Wasn't this one of the cards singled out in that amusing all-night fight between one of the Wentz's and someone on one of the other boards? Someone posted a link to it a few weeks ago.
