thetoppsvault blocks me!!

This is what will happen when people b***h about $7 in shipping fees and the fact that the Carew Proof card i bought had two (SEVERE) creases on it. I could have easily NEG'D them but left them a nuetral. I went to bid today on the 1973 Carew Candy Lid Proof. When i punched in my bid, i found out that i am now blocked. Topps refuses to send any package via USPS and will only send it via UPS.
As i own a business, i am never here during the day, and living in the Los Angeles area, there is always a frikkin line a mile long at my local UPS.
Topps has become about as hard to contact as Ebay itself!! My money has always been good and i always pay fast, and this is how i am treated? So I guess the lesson is don't b***h against the Big Dog.image

    Marc;

Since I have purchased items from you in the past without incident (thank you!), I'd be happy to bid on the item for you if you really want it... PM me your high bid and we'll make an arrangement if it'll help you.
  • Wow, that big time sucks. No mercy, no chance for clarification. The UPS only thing bugs me too.

    FWIW:

Marc, TheToppsVault had a lot of feedback problems with their first foray onto Ebay - so perhaps they are a bit sensitive. I do understand your frustrations - but from their perspective, they are probably looking for a cheap/inexpensive outlet to sell all of their items for little or no cost. From a bottom line perspective - yes, they do have a lot of very neat items - but most of what they are doing on Ebay is mere piddling compared to the high dollar value of their regular Topps production sales. I am sorry that you were burned - but I assure you that there are numerous ways to get that Carew Candy Lid proof if you really want it. The neat thing is that they are offering some really cool cool items up for sale - and although the line at UPS is pretty freaking horrible - I would do nearly anything to add that 1980 Pepsi Schmidt to my collection, if you know what I mean. If Carew was part of that set (don't recall off the top of my head...), you should be preparing for it to be listed sometime soon.

I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

I agree - last week I picked up a cool Reggie candy lid and along with a lot great cartoon art pieces, I really like the 3 card proof sheets they come up with - I've got my eye on one this week!

Did you talk to customer service - I emailed Lisa and even tho they have an all sales final policy, they did take back an item that was creased and not described that way. The UPS thing I never asked about. Sorry to hear about the 'block' thing - that kind of stinks - I think it would've been nice if they had contacted you.

  • Thanks for the support. I contacted the winning bidder and if at any point he wants to sell, to contact me. I can't believe Topps still has all the proofs in existence. My understanding was this stuff was supposed to be sold years ago back in 1989 Gernsey Auction. I guess there were no takers back then. But with Ebay now in the picture, i am sure Topps doesn't miss that 15% cut by the auction house.

Actually the first three auctions that toppsvault put up someone hijacked the auctions and left
them 3 negs. Of course ebay erased them. In the insuing year toppsvault (the original name)
had a negative rating or about 30%! What was ever worse is it seemed like all their positives
were from a couple of people.

It seemed like topps treated the people who won their auctions the same as they treat dealers and
customers who bought their wax....you know, no contact, shipped in 6-8 weeks, damaged items.....
The only recourse for buyers was a negative.....of course topps made a deal with ebay, where that
user name was struck from the records and all those negs disappeared.

I had though that they had made the appropiate changes, but it doesn't sound like it. Too bad you
    left a nuetral.

...there you go the history of toppsvault!

I have only purchased one item from them and it was over a year ago. I paid promptly and received the item as described. A few weeks ago, I attempted to bid on something and found that I was blocked. I emailed about it and all they said was "Blocks are put in place when items are not paid." I responded that I always pay for everything in a timely manner and asked what it was that I didn't pay for. A few days later I tried to bid again and it went through, so apparently they unblocked me. Their communication skills are severely lacking...
