E-mail me at "mschoenen@mba2005.hbs.edu" if you would like one at your bid price. I have a second one that I am ready and willing to sell - I have been meaning to get an e-mail off to my list of Schmidt collectors with all the extra Schmidt cards I have available now. I give very generous trades if you have any cards that I need as additions and/or upgrades. But I do have an extra one of these that I would be willing to sell. I may generally not have access to the card for a month or so - but would be willing to put it aside for you when I do. I just have a very busy month ahead of me what with final exams, holiday in Europe (baby's first trip abroad!) and starting my summer job in CT. Am happy to help you out, though. Just let me know-
MS
P.S. Also have a 72 PR Sticker Schmidt GAI 7.5 available... if can't sell privately, I will move to get it into an auction house with hopefully a high (e.g. $750 - $1,000) MB. Will see what I can do with that.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
That is a crazy final price for that card - thanks again to RDBjr for bidding this one up. I bought mine a few months back for $150, with very little bidding competition.
$150 is a smokin deal in my opinion. I think somewhere around $300 is an accurate price for this card. I've sold few 10's from this set but they were all about a year or 2 ago. Here are some of the approximate prices that I got on stuff:
Brett - $700 Brett - $500 Rose HL - $450 Morgan - $350 Morgan - $200 Dale Murphy - $150 Trammell - $200 Concepcion - $125 (?)
Dobbs has one of your cards,Wabbit. That is one smoking 450.
Of the star cards out there I think the Schmidt is the highest pop. SMR 325 and used to sell for 380 to 550.This is the highest price realized on a Schmidt in a while.
I sold the Brett, Rose HL, and Morgan in one lot. At the time, all were pop 1 and including those, there were only 14 total PSA 10's from 1980. Boy, times have changed. The PSA 10 populations went through the roof but have since slowed down. Also the amount of unopened material has dried up considerably. Within about a year, I purchased 3 vending cases of 1980 Topps and lately there doesn't seem to be any more. I do searches for vending cases on Ebay and there are a lot of 1981 and after but the 1980 and before are really tough to find.
Rob, I just caught that - and you are exactly right!
As for 1980 unopened, I have been finding vending boxes lately, but not with the same frequency as before. Prices are rising slightly, but you can still find them. I haven't found a full vending case, but I'd be interested in one.
Sealed vending cases is by far the best way to go. I've had too many bad experiences with single vending boxes. Cases are slightly more expensive than 24 individual vending boxes but well worth the expense. I bought one from Mark Murphy that was gorgeous. Many of the 10's came from that one including the second Brett.
I'm almost positive that it was the first, but I might be wrong. Otherwise I doubt that I could have gotten $450 for it. The serial number might be close to one of the Brett's or Morgan's but I sent in my 1980's on a few different invoices so maybe not unless they were on the same invoice, I'm not sure.
I'll get back to you on that when I have a chance to check ther cert #s.
I wound up with one of the Bretts you popped and it was beautiful. The other 3 or 4 I never saw up close but was quite happy with the one retired in my old set.
BTW-The fella who won the schmidt in this thread is the owner of many of my high end Gems including your Brett.I wish he'd register a set.
Rob, you mean rdbjr? I was wondering the same thing, as I have seen him buy some really nice cards over the last several months. He is all over the place though, 70's baseball and football. I have bought from him as well, he's a good seller.

Those prices you realized are all great, especially on the Joe Morgans!

Are you sure you popped the First Rose HL?Mine had a Zero cert and I don't ever recall acquiring a card from you with a Zero.
Also, there is another Schmidt 10 that's up and running so now that the high rollers are out of the mix the price probably should go back down.
