Okay, this is ridiculous

I know these are scarce, and certainly undervalued in Krause, but .... image

I have dealt with that seller before - no overpriced stuff nor any problems.

I don't have a Krause with me, so I'm working from memory, but it's listed at $8 in Unc. with a mintage of about 350,000. I would pay $20 for one if I was sure it was a no-problem mint state coin. Even with the low mintage, I can't imagine the demand would be high enough to support that price. I'm sure I could get one in Brazil for a lot less -- it might take some searching, but they're out there.

Two bidders throwing down a take-out bid and the "winner" didn't have enough time left in the auction to retract his last bid??

I'll bet it's some kind of prank. Minnesotafair made the mistake of entering multiple bids. The coin started at $5.00.

How come two people never have a bare knuckle brawl over some of my listings?? image

I checked my 2004 Krause -- mintage is 222,000 and value in Unc. is $6.50. Maybe the two bidders thought the coin was gold (it's really aluminum-bronze).

I knew these were scarce since I never found one but for that price you could
take a vacation to Rio to look for one. Even if you came back empty handed,
    you'd still have the memories.

There are a few nice AU's and XF's out there and lower grades aren't very tough.

For that much money, you could go to Rio and back twice, and still have some cash left over for coins. image
