Today's coin show.

Today was the annual 'Get together' of the Buffalo Numismatic Association which recently merged with the Erie County Coin and Stamp Club. This is the only monthly show of the year where and admission is charged to non-members, but a buffet lunch is provided. A lunch that is well worth the $2.00 admission charge.

The show started slow, at the 10:00 opening there were very few buyers on the bourse flow. Perhaps due in part that the show was held in a different hall than normal, but still in the same complex. Things started to pick up by 11:00 with a noticable increase of traffic. Very few dealers of darkside coins were set up but I was able to add two coins to my Canadian 25c collection. First I bought a 1938 in Good condition. I thought that was about it until a dealer in Canadian coins asked me if I needed the 1936 Dot coin, someone just sold him one. It took me about 2 seconds to reply 'Yes' and we settled on a very fair price. The coin is not really scarce, a mintage of 154,000 but I've been having the devil of a time finding one.

I left shortly after noon and it seemed the bourse traffic was picking up even more. All in all, a very nice time.
