1971 proof set???

I read that there is a coin without the s mint mark and a double die cent.
Is that true. how rare are they?

Any info on these sets.

How were they package??Sealed unsealed?

All help is appreciated

It's the nickel, and they are pretty rare but not as rare as some of the other no s coins from other years. The sets are packaged in hard plastic, enclosed in a blue box with flaps - not sealed.

I am reading David Lang's book on Buffalo nickels and might pick up coppercoins penny book.

I feel like a sponge soaking up info, I hope I can put it to good use in the future

I have the 1971 no s pcgs pr68cam jefferson which is reported to be of 1650 mintage...pcgs shows 24 in my grade, last ebay went 999 and last heritage in same grade went 1300+juice

they were packaged mint proof sets, 1650 give or take left the mint before being discoverd and the rest destroyed.

redbook probably has more info.

My jefferson is up for offers, and is probably hitting heritage in june or oct.

There are actually several double die cents. The 2 that PCGS certifies have visible doubling in LIBERTY. In addition, the FS-032 has nice doubling in the date, and the FS-033 has doubling in IN GOD WE TRUST. The FS-033.1 has a lesser amount of doubling in LIBERTY and IN GOD.
