Giving PSA it's due.....Consistency!

I just received a submission back that I had been waiting on for a longtime. Customer Service actually did help push it through once I called and said I was told the date received was when the days started counting off, not the entered in the sysyem date, they balked at first but a customer service rep stayed on top of the order and it went throught the system in less then a week. With all the talk of undergrading and inconsistency I was almost scared to get my grades back as this order was for 180 cards and I also have one in the system for 350 cards as well. With all the documentation of late on the site of how submitters feel their cards are getting undergraded I was waiting with anxious anticipation to seem if I would face the same doom.
I found the grades to be remarkably consistent!! I did receive around 40 or so PSA 7's (mixed in a smattering of 6's) but atleast 17 of the PSA 7's were previous PSA 7's that I thought were PSA 8's but after cracking and re-submitting came back 7's once again. True, I was not really pleased about getting 7's again, but it does show a consistency in the grading, which at this point , with all the criticism going on makes me feel re-assured. Atleast a dozen or more of the other PSA 7's received I sent in with a PSA 7 in mind for the grade of those cards, and all of the other cards I was looking for PSA 8's and they got the grades. There are about 5-7 cards that I am waiting to reveiw because I felt they were PSA 8's and they got 7's, but with all the hubbub on this board for undergrading, , I can mentally only question about 5 grades on a submission of 181 cards, without receiving them in the mail yet. I think for the submitteres out there getting scared to send in cards because they think PSA is trying to manipulate the market I now personally think that is nonsense, I think they nailed this order of mine!
If it's worth doing..It's worth overdoing!!

  • Nuyauwka,

My order of 151 were all accurately graded as well and we'll see about the order of 100 more that went out FedEx today, in a week.

Nice to hear something positive, these last few days have be a real funeral around here.

    Congrats on your submission,

I just got my last submission of 40 cards back from PSA for the February Registry Special and must say that PSA did a very good job. All the cards were modern cards, and I thought I looked at them very carefully before sending, so I expected almost all 9s. When I saw the results on the online status, there was one 5 and two 6s. Automatically I was going to come onto the CU boards and complain about how the "Grader of Death" did me wrong.

Well upon receipt, I looked at these cards and stickers. Sure enough, there were paper wrinkles that I did not catch with the naked eye or even with a loupe. When I flip throught the rest of the cards, I could definitely tell why PSA gave 8s for some and 9s for others. Overall, I am very very pleased with this submission and look forward to the next modern special.

I had 11 vintage cards graded by psa at the fort wash show. 9 were graded what i thought they would be, 1 got a 2 grade up and 1 a 2 grade down sounds pretty consistent to me. Plus the service rep carol helped me immensely like ske promised she would do in a PM. I think we all should reavaluate what it is exactly we are looking for in a graded card. remm no 2 cards wear alike and no 2 cards are produced alike. plus no 2 graders will grade alike........
    Good for you.
