What are some of the best football team sets from the 1970s?

Hi Guys, I'm going to start a football card collection which will consist of team sets from the 1970s. I am a big Cowboys fan so I loved the 90s (three superbowls in four years). However, I began being a Cowboys fan on January 17, 1971. I believe that the football that was played in the 70s was the best football ever. Those guys were REAL football players and played for the love of the game. I want to collect 12-15 different teams from all across the decade of the 1970s. This system would allow me to get the great player cards from say the Cowboys from a few different years along with some of the great players from the Steelers, Jets, Dolphins, Colts etc. Now my question is which teams from which years to choose? Please let me know which teams from which years you think make up the best team sets from a collectors prospective. I will post which ones I chose after seeing how this poll goes.     Hi Guys, I have been working on a spreadsheet of teams that made it to the championship games for that decade. It has been very helpful in seeing which teams had staying power and which ones were one playoff wonders. I'm using the info from Superbowl V (1969) thought Superbowl XVI (1980). I also like this era because it was after Green Bay was great and before the 49ers were great (spoken like a real Cowboys fan). Here's some things that I learned. Both the Chiefs and Jets won one Superbowl (no other championship game appearances). The Broncos and Redskins each lost one Superbowl (no other playoffs appearances). But the Cowboys - 8, Raiders - 8, Steelers - 6, Vikings - 5, Dolphins - 3, Colts - 3 and Rams - 5 did well in playoff appearances. I think that I'll focus on these 11 teams for now and narrow it down as I go. Now to figure out which years were the best teams for each. Neil

    I have to agree with Carlos. 1972 Dolphins! Undefeated, you need not say more.

    A nice set without much competition is '77 Topps Football. The '79 set isn't bad either with a steady supply of PSA 9s and PSA 10s recently.

    I also vote 1977. 1973 also has very little interest now, PSA 9s can be had under SMR.
