Do we have a Chemist in the house?

I need a solvent or some kind of a reaction to break up the haze which has been placed on a coin...What I think has occured is that someone used baking soda to try to remove toning on this coin....now I need to reverse the bonding reaction because I can see a great deal of luster beneath all the whitish film...if their is a chemist who might have an idea, I would appreciate it....

what type of coin is it? clad? silver? gold? If this is a high end coin with some value, I would just let NCS take care of it. Your investment would be better protected, IMHO. image To answer your question, if you are not sure what was used, then you can't really properly neutralize what is on there. You could try a 50% dip solution, or a bit of MS70 without harm, but again, if you have doubts as to what was used, stick to NCS.
