PCGS Invitational June 14 to 16

I received an invite to the next PCGS Invitational in Las Vegas, June 14 to the 16th today. While I appreciate the invite, I have one question:

Why don't you have it somewhere else besides Las Vegas?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Other possibilities could be Philly, DC, Baltimore, Norfolk, Richmond. Did anyone notice that I listed cities in the Mid-Atlantic area? image

  • I'm so disappointed! NO INVITATION

But I can see at least one big reason for Las Vegas ... There are cheap air fares to there from almost anywhere in the US. And lots of hotel rooms and 'adult entertainment'.

It's a 5 hour drive from here to DC and somewhat more to Baltimore. That would be about the limit of what I would even consider driving. Air fares, booked in advance, can be very very cheap!

Edited to say --- oh well, they found me. Got my invitation in today's mail.
  • It's also relatively close to the home of PCGS.

The east coast would be nice. We all enjoyed Baltimore last year.

I was in shock when I read that! I'm still waiting for the seminar on how to cross ACG coins to PCGS and then it might be worth going!

Or perhaps -- how to AT your coins and get them into PCGS slabs. Now that'd be interesting as well!

Why not have it in New Haven or Hartford CT?

I received the invitation yesterday, and was surprised to see that David Hall was conducting a seminar on how to clean your coins. image Maybe he should put that in written form, so everyone knows what PCGS considers to be "acceptable" cleaning.

Why not have it in a more centralized location,. like Denver? image

    PCGS grading guide

    Under MS66, under Luster :
" A dipped coin must be "fresh" in appearance and never give the impression of having been cleaned"

They will grade clean coins if they don't like clean
