Even though SGC grade, 1957 Mantle is a beautiful card, and might even crossover to PSA 8. But the card appears to be a tad oversized on the top. Look who is the high bidder! Bet you will see this card in a Pro 10 holder soon!!! Shame.
The card is already over $800 w/ a few days remaining. So if he was to slice the card into a PRO 9 or 10, could he make money? You would think that anybody spending 4 figures on a Mantle card would do some homework...jay
The new owner of Sgc has nothing to do with him bidding on this card.
He's bidding trying to flip at a higher grade such as 8.5 or 9. He's taking a chance by looking at the scan of the front on back and thinking it can up a 1/2 grade or 1 full grade. As Jay suggests I doubt this card can be flipped at a profit in a Pro 10 holder. He does this with 6's and 7's especially. Grading is subjective and profitable for some. I saw a couple Psa 7 red man that were bought and then immediately sold by this person. After receipt and review of the cards it was obvious they would not move up in grades.
He has had the habit of buying cards and trying to get higher grades on the re-submission as Aconte said. Also, he has bought cards that are 4's and 5's that otherwise look NMMT but have a back surface wrinkle. He has also bought some cards graded by the lesser companies, in hopes they will cross I assume.
If you know what you are doing with each issue you might do well. Add in all the other junk we've talked about on these boards the last few months and who knows. You can make some dough. Does anyone know the range of a graded nm/mt 57 Mantle? My guess is that the bidder may have an idea and will bid accordingly (the low side). If he REALLY wants the card he'll snipe on the low side and then take a chance to resell later in a higher grade holder or just as is in the same holder. By bidding early he is saying if he wins fine if not that is ok too. He is happy to see the price get driven up. Heck, maybe he has a Sgc 88 or 92 or a Psa 8 in his inventory now.
The bottom line is this person is not dumb. He confidently and continually makes money with graded cards. Some ways cool and some not so cool. There are those who take the intial grade on a card and run with it on ebay; not knowing that with a little work and luck you can shake some extra greenbacks on the cards.
A wise man told me "Eventually all cards will wind up in the highest graded holder when it's all said and done."
I doubt that 'jodi-mo' would turn that card to Pro. My guess is he would look at it and see if it could be turned to an 8. I'm not sure what 7's from the 41 Playball's go for but that would be my guess. My initial thought would be that the card would have a hard time becoming an 8 based on looking at the scan and taking into consideration the confidence I have with those low "0" cert#'s. So I'm left with thoughts running through my head about are there other ways this can become an 8? And I get yes as an answer. There is also the possibilty the potential buyer has his own buyer or may want to flip at a later date. All are possible. Some are more likely than others. I don't know....
It wasn't entirely the chance of it ending up in a pro holder- I think a PSA 7 would go for more than a Pro 9 in this particular case, or at least I hope so. Its just that this is a hobby for me, and as such I have a choice who I do business with. If it sells for less because I've blocked them then that is fine. In my opinion the blatant trimming and holdering of cards has done more to turn others off the hobby that perhaps any other aspect. Don't even start me on the AAA/NASA "graded" magazine cutouts.

I sold a PSA 8 1957 Mantle on EBAY for $1700 recently. This auction doesn't close for 4 days. It will likely go for at least $1500...too much for Moser's purposes.
Anthony....that is one heck of a bid retraction. He meant to say "...end up in a PRO 10 holder".
jodi-mo's responses to negative feedback sometimes are bizarre and don't seem to have any relation to the complaint. Other times they are just a barrage of vulgarity. One wonders how many negatives he would truly have, if unhappy buyers were not afraid of retaliatory feedback.
My sole transaction with him (before I knew about his rep), I waited 3 weeks after my check cleared for my cards to arrive, with zero response to half a dozen emails. The two cards are in apparently untampered GAI and SGC holders, and they look OK for the grade, so I can only hope. But those 3 weeks after I read all this stuff about him and before I got my purchase were awful.
Does anyone have a list of all the ebay id's this guy has? I blocked one, he ended up bidding with another. I'm sure he's got a slug of them. Any info, either on the board or pm'd is grreatly appreciated. I"m sure it is no coincidence that his shipping address is unverified- and I'm sure the signiture for any packages would be denied as well.
