The guy said he was retiring. Then changed his mind and signed for his local team for less then he made last year.
I thought this was common knowledge, but I guess you have a way with facts...jay

ohh yeah, I forget, and I thought playing for the Yankees was the highest thing a ball player could
    acheive!

You still know the Yankees are hurting

Can the Yankees use him?, of course! He announced that he was going to retire and wanted to go to the Hall as a Yankee. He accomplished everything there was in baseball. He got his 300th win & 4000 K, and has 6 Cy Young awards and a World Series ring. Many believed him when he said he was going to retire, Steinbrenner incl.
The Yanks offered David Wells a minor league contract and stated he can battle for a pitching slot in spring training, he declined and signed w/ san Diego. With Clemens the Yankees never offered a deal like that, if he wanted to pitch, they would have been delighted.
I can understand Clemens changing his mind and joining his best friend and fellow Texan Pettite, as the 2 want to take Houston to where they have never been, and thats to a World Series. I hope they succeed...jay

    << hope they succeed>>

Not at the expense of the Yankees, although they would be my 2nd choice since I like Pettitte.

If the US Baseball team had qualified for the Olympics, Clemens would not be pitching for Houston (maybe next year). He had his heart set on it and when they didn't qualify, the bored Clemens joined his friend Andy in Houston. By the way, I don't think Clemens was too happy that George didn't go after Pettitte with double barrels.

  • Clemens in on steroids - plain and simple. This guy has packed on 45+ lbs since he broke into the majors, can only mean one thing: ROIDS

No one can pitch like this guy is at 41, packing on the lbs of muscle unless it is ROIDS induced, when are you going to admit the truth
  • I completely agree Patton. Roids, Roids, Roids! When are you guys going to open your eyes!! Clemens is juicing!

You are not supposed to get better with age. Your body starts to break down when you get older, right? LOL

7 MVP awards, the single season HR record, career walks record, single season walks record, 700HR/500SB, and two batting titles near 40 years old. How can one argue that those aren't stats of the greatest to ever play the game??? All this and there is still more to come!!!! Bonds:2005 NL MVP. Or are you going to doubt him again?
  • ROIDS, Duh his forehead looks just fine!! Back when Ruth and Cobb played, they didn't have ROIDS-- They called it WHISKEY....

Yeah, he's got one big steroids-assisted muscle right behind his belt buckle, and a couple more in his back pockets.
    WANTED:
2005 Origins Old Judge Brown #/20 and Black 1/1s, 2000 Ultimate Victory Gold #/25
2004 UD Legends Bake McBride autos & parallels, and 1974 Topps #601 PSA 9
Rare Grady Sizemore parallels, printing plates, autographs

    Nothing on ebay
  • Another example of sore loser fans inventing an excuse for a player performing at a higher level then they think possible. There is absolutely no evidence that Roger Clemens ever took steroids. I used to think that player testing was an invasion of privacy but after reading the responses of this thread I wish testing would come in to end the baseless claims of non-believers.

This is what kills me.. You know, I read a article on Bonds and his team mates said they'd rather go to a funeral than go out to dinner with him. Has anyone ever been around a guy on ROIDS?? I have and they are moody as hell.. In fact, I'd rather go to a funeral than out to eat with them also.. I see a comparsion, anyone else???

    Hey coach,

Uh...........I think many of the above comments were made in jest to the tone of JS' never-ending tirades about Bonds.

People trying to get on my nerve...why? LOL

You can't gain control by taking roids. You can't make a curve ball curve by taking roids. Clemens has
ALWAYS been a great pitcher, unlike some guys who hit 30 homers a year their whole career and then one year bust
    out with 73.

The day that Clemens is singing soprano next to Bonds is the day we can start talking about roids!

<< <i>Clemens in on steroids - plain and simple. >>

PATTON - Thats crazy! With the Yankees his conditioning program was 2nd to none. A few years ago he took 2 young pitchers and had them work out w/ him, Ted Lilly and another (name escapes me). Neither of the young bucks could keep up with him, 1 stopped to throw up, the other got leg cramps.
It is no secret that the great pitchers have great work-out regiments, Carlton & Ryan quickly come to mind. If you can get the success that these pitchers have by taking a pill in a bottle, give me some, I'd like to dominate in the majors too! ...jay

I have read that pitchers use more performance enhancing drugs than other players.

I packed on about 35 lbs since I was 21, and it has nothing to do with roids.

It has a lot to do with Doritos and cheese steaks.

I packed on 60lbs since I got married.

It has alot to do with good home cooking and sitting at the computer reading these boards.

  • Clemens has ALWAYS been a great pitcher, unlike some guys

Fact- 1986-1991 Clemens averaged 230+ strikeouts. Then 1991-1995 he had 241, 208, 160, 168, 132 strikeouts. Notice a pattern of decline? Then in 1996 all of sudden he KOs 257. I see a pattern of steroids there. No one starts to decline and then bam starts performing at the level he did when he was 22. Besides notice the pounds he put on after he started playing - has to be steroids.

You can't gain control by taking roids. You can't make a curve ball curve by taking roids

Does Roids make you patient at the bat? Does Roids help hand/eye coordination? Does Roids help you steal 500 bases or bat .370?

There you go, there is positive proof that Clemens in on the Roids.

I came across a very funny stat the other day. I don't remember the exact year, but one year Barry Larkin hit like 39 homers and had twice as many RBI's. It was in the mid to late 90's. In any other year before or after, he has never hit more than 18 homers.

Now, you tell me how that is possible? If you say he had a career year, then the same applies for Bonds in 2001. After all, he never did come close to that ever since, right? I think the difference is because Bonds gets walked more than a dog with diarhea!! Even the 2 years after the 73 home run season, Bonds could have hit at least 65-70 if he had half those walks back. He had twice as many walks than anyone else those years. That's half as many opportunities to hit a home run, right? Think about it. It's very plain to see.

200 less Barry at bats = about 30-40 less homers. No doubt about it. What do you have to say now?????

Stalin - should have sold those Soriano Ultimate Victory cards back when they were about $125 each. They just went down to $50 in the latest Beckett, didn't they? You need to know when to sell. They are never going to be that high again!
