Idea for Grading Special

I think it would be great to have a real "Set Registry Special." The last one they did was essentially $5 apiece, minimum 25 cards, no limit. I think if they had a $5 special, but all the cards on the invoice had to be from one particular set that you already have registered, they wouldn't get nearly as swamped as they did last time. It would be a great way to give the people who are actually collecting the cards a good deal, while keeping submissions for reasle down (ie- keeping the true collectors happy!!!)

    Jeff;

    I like the idea obviously! But without PSA's 5000 count dealer submissions, they probably couldn't do enough volume on this to make a $5 price tag profitable. But, I'd pay $7 if it were a guaranteed 15 day turnaround!

    I like your idea, and I felt that the reason PSA got swamped was all of the people taking advantage of the "Set Registry Special" with no actual interest or involvement in the registry. There is no way PSA could police this, however.

    I actually like the Express special going on right now, but I could also deal with a $7 / 15 day special, too.

    Yeah, PSA couldn't police a true set registry special like I suggested, but I would say that a lot of people with registered sets have a ton of raw cards sitting around and are waiting for another special to come up. If you made it a 25 card minimum again, that would probably weed out a lot of the grade-and-sell types. I think $6 would be a fair price, since that's what they charge for bulk and obviously money is there to be made for them.

    I think it would be nice if PSA beefed up the "Free Grading" bonus for 75% set completion of Registry sets, especially for sets with 600+ cards. Their current offer of five free gradings isn't very exciting.

    This is the way that they can truly cater to those of us actually building registry sets. Without the PSA authorization code, no freebies. That will keep out the dealers and speculators.

    Something like 'one free grading for every 10 cards registered' might be a cool promotion. You could send in 110 cards and pay only $600; that's less than $5.50 a card for Registry members, and, as I said, they indeed could police the deal with authorization codes.

    Am I making any sense?

    I would love another $5 special for true registered sets, I am sending a 181 card Modern Bulk submission as soon as I get the results of my last $5 sub. I guess I want to see how the grades turn out before I submit in case I'm not as good at picking cards as I think I am.
