I wanted to purchase a coin off of their website and was hoping to let them know ASAP so I could buy it before it sold at the show (unless it's already gone image ). Is there a cell # for them, etc??? Any help greatly appreciated !!!

    Sandhawk,

Sent you a PM. I am a collector that worked the table with Harry Laibstain at Central States. He is easily reachable at all times by his email address at: HLaibstain@aol.com. He responds to his emails quickly. If you need to, I can provide you his cell phone number.

I had a great time playing coin dealer helper/assistant with Harry at Central States and it was a tremendous learning opportunity for me. I called this "Coin Camp" and it provided an insightful view into the world of a dealer at a large coin show. Harry has a great eye and is well connected in the dealer community and well respected by his peers. He has some wonderful and cool coins in his inventory and the trip to Milwaukee was worth it just to see things like a 1792 copper disme in XF40 and a 1797 half dollar in F12 in person. I saw lots of great coins bought and sold in a short amount of time.

My perspective of the Central States show was that there was tremendous dealer to dealer sales on Wednesday and Thursday and reasonable sales to customers on the bourse floor. I attended small parts of the Heritage auction sessions that interested me and found that the prices were very strong for high-end or rare material. The early walkers in gem went for way over grey sheet and trends prices as did the late date Saints.

The only downside I had to working at a table was that I didn't get that much time to go shop around the floors as a collector to pick up things. On the other hand, my wife is happy because I didn't have much chance to spend money. image
