The guys a KEEPER and always was - I'm holding on tight for a while - what's going on with ebay and his cards right now?
Good question for the board: in your opinion which is his best card to collect at this point for future high demand/appreciation?

Im here backing him 24/7. He went to a new team, batting in a new position and got off to a rough
start and suddenly everyone was all over him! 6-6 tonight, driving in the runs like any of the big
roid users and the Rangers are winning games!

I gotta like the topps traded auto. I have been a backer of the UD UV rookie for a long time and I still
have my minty stash, but ink rules today! Those 99 topps traded cards were packed in tight and were
very easy to ding! The bowman gold is also a nice pickup if you can find it!

BowChrome....I wanted it at the beginning of the season when everyone was writing him off. I said
I would give you 10% book for it and you disappeared! Are you ready to call this guy great yet or
are you going to have a fire sale? LMK ....preferable before he takes Texas to the championship!

    Hey Joe,
Where were you when the 00 Essential Credential #2/4 ended??? Who can't afford $43.00?? Unfortunately, you'll have to fight me for the next 99 BC Gold Refractor that shows up on ebay...I'll be watching for you though.

no championship for texas........for a while no pitching no bullpen.
i am glad to see soriano doing well, from what i've seen he has stopped trying to pull the low and outside pitches it shouldn't be long before they try to bust him inside and the homeruns will follow. i'm still skeptical that texas will decide to keep him , i'd like to see him in a bigger market (NOT BOSTON) .

That really cheeses up a good card. You missed my point completly. I guess that was a weak
attempt at comparison to the topps traded auto? LOL Nice try

We all know series 2 BC in 99 was printed up nice and sweet, 9's are commonplace
We all know that the refractors are nice but are not rare and not even numbered!
Was PSA there when Soriano signed the card? I guess so they are saying it is real, I would
rather have topps backing and so would collectors. All that card is to me is a 9 missing the
    qualifier.

If you must chime in then please bring a pic of a real card...the UV /100, a high grade TT Auto or
    the bowman chrome gold.

    Thanks Anyways,

LOL thats weak...tell me you aren't going to just leave it at that and take the easy way out! Maybe
join dante under the bed? Show us some cards with a BV of 20+ and then we can talk. I know you
can back yourself better than that! LOL

    Thanks

    Ok:

(marks are on the holder, not on the card):

Link, so that I don't overload the CU board with the image

Now let's see one of your's, Mr. Reid. Anyone will do, even a plain old 1999 Bowman card (not even Chrome). But since you probably won't host the pic on your own website (tsk tsk tsk), you'll need to prove somehow that it's yours.

Um, I'm running Windows 98 (too many security holes in XP), and as long as you are running IE or Netscape, it shouldn't matter, as we are talking about a .jpg file being read by a browser, nothing more or less. In any case, here is the image, for those that like coming up with excuses:

I had 3 of them at one point, but I traded the second nicest I had, then sold the worse during "Soriano-Mania" a couple of years ago. Sadly, this had the nicest centering of the 3.

ahhh ok...international refractor with poor centering...is that the best you can do? In my original
post I was talking about UD UV /100 or gold refractors numbered to 25, why are you showing me
this? Wouldn't you rather have the topps traded auto than this card?

This card does book for 200 right? Might I suggest a better case? LOL

Well, I've posted 2 Soriano's worth over $100 (the autographed PSA 9 refractor, and the International refractor) to your 0. Either put up or shut up, skippy!

    Read it and weep...royal flush!

    Cinco de Mayo

Sent straight from UD, the mint ones dried up a few months after the release. I would put odds of
pulling a mint one from a pack at about the same odds of pulling a gold refractor from a pack of 99
bowman chrome. If you don't trust me on the condition I can send you a few close ups.

    Enjoy!

  • No matter what he does, Soriano's cards are not going anywhere. He had his peaks. It will not help that he is on a bad team either. He's just another above average player on a bad team. If you are hoping for his cards to go up any time soon, you'll be waiting awhile.

7 MVP awards, the single season HR record, career walks record, single season walks record, 700HR/500SB, and two batting titles near 40 years old. How can one argue that those aren't stats of the greatest to ever play the game??? All this and there is still more to come!!!! Bonds:2005 NL MVP. Or are you going to doubt him again?

Bad Team?? Ahh check the newspaper.

    Thanks

  • I stand corrected. I guess I am just so use to them sucking bad. Their pitching will not hold up. That's just my opinion. It is funny how Arod couldn't get the team turned around, but Soriano arrives and they are on a roll. I will give him some credit there.

They still have not addressed the pitching issue. Until then, it will be a wait and see with them.

    Hey JoeStalin,
I have the email address of someone who has 4 1999 Alfonso Soriano Bowman Chrome Gold Refractors /25. I believe he was looking to get around 800 or so for them.

    Are you interested?

Yes I am interested in that depending on the condition. Do you know if he has 12/25? Thanks

But you could get a BGS 9.5 Fleer Barry Bonds for almost $800. Forget the Soriano's!!!!!

800 bucks is nothing, the UD UV Parallel numbered to 100 BGS 9.5 sells for 950, the bowman chrome
gold, while not as condition sensitive, is numbered to just 25.

that is one sweet card Sean. i bet you could find 10 TT autos for every one of yours
  • My friend actually sold 2 of the 3 UV /100 9.5 for 2.3 K and 2.1 K...granted this was last year, but still.

  • Help me understand one thing. I thought getting an auto on a card decreases the value?? If I have an auto on a McGwire rookie and I send it in to regular PSA, will they deduct from the grade because of the auto? But if I send it into PSA/DNA and it is deemed authentic, I have a shot at a realistic grade?

I truly don't know the answer. So is it good to get an auto on a RC or not? If I have a gem mint Bowman Chrome Blalock, and the opportunity to have him sign it, is it worth more now? That would be a great card, huh? Kinda like a "unofficial" Pujols from the same set!
