Whats a BCCG 10 Michael Jordan fleer #57 rookie worth?

Would you keep the jordan In a BCCG 10 or get it regraded to PSA or BGS? How much is a BCCG 10 even worth?

This is an interesting question, as most people think very little of the whole BCCG crap grading system anyway. But, I wonder if they can be trusted enough to at least verify that a card is not counterfeit? If it was me, I wouldn't pay much for that particular card, and I would inspect it to ensure that you could cross it to a PSA holder. A PSA 8 is worth around $500 today, and that might be where you are headed...if it's real.

hmmmm to me its "worth" about as much as you are willing to pay for it. IF it is for a "personal" collection. Now if you are "investing" in it and looking to turn it over that is a different question. As for if it is "real" or not. I would ask for high quality scans from certain areas of the card. Even it being "holdered" you should be able to spot if it is real or not. If the seller is "willing" to sell and is asking a "pretty penny" he should have no problem providing this service to the customer.

Using a search of ebay's completed items...9's from that grading company usually sell for $500-650. No 10's were listed (that weren't reprints).

For most cards, BCCG 10's sell the same or higher as psa 9's, so I wouldn't bother crossing it over. I've had success with bccg on a few tries, but, with something that valuable, I wouldn't risk it.

Just ask yourself why the person who had it graded by BCCG didn't get it graded by PSA- is there is money to be had, it will probably not be made by you.

Well maybe that person had no access to a "member" of PSA, nor wanted to pay a "fee" to join.

If it were a card of lesser importance, I would go for that. The thing is that this is one of the most important basketball cards in the world. The people that get 52 Mantles graded by PRO are nobody's fool, and I think the same thing applies here. If you know enough to get a card graded in the first place (ie knowing that its value will increase), you know that a PSA 8 or 9 is a more solid investment than a PRO or BCCG 10, and the membership fees would easily be covered by the one card alone.

Not from someone that doesnt know better. Im talking the "original" owner. There is the chance that the "original" owner of the card was not as savy as the current and or future owner. They were "raised" on Beckett and went with them. Its not totally inconcievable. As PSA/Beckett/GAI/etc. Im sure they get some of their grades spot on, while they also make mistakes. "IF" grading is subjective as others have posted how can you compare?

  • I've had some luck with BCCG 10 on some oddball Nolan Ryan issues, but I have to go with the group here and say that I wouldn't trust a big dollar card in one of these holders. Its one thing to take a chance on a $5-$30 card and quite another to risk $100+. Play it safe and let someone else make a mistake.

    My 2 cents,

Well as I understand the original posters question the card is already Beckett graded. Im not basing my opinion on a "RAW" card. I agree PSA is the "name" to go with when grading. But if a hi dollar card is already in a non-psa Holder and that company is "fairly" reliable why crack it?

  • Aknot,

You're right, I misinterrpeted the original post.

    Jfizzle,

    Welcome to PSA boards!

If you want the card in a PSA holder for ease of determing worth, send it in for crossover grading in the BCCG 10 holder. That way if it won't cross you will still have it in the BCCG 10 holder. Judging value in the BCCG 10 holder is tough because the condition of the card is defined as "Mint or better". I have seen some that would barely graded PSA 7 and I have had some cross to PSA 10. It really comes down to the card itself, is it legit? is it trimmed?, or is it a PSA 7, 8, 9 or 10. You won't know for sure until you try to cross it.

Hope that is more useful that my first post. Sorry for not reading everything, its a bad habit of mine.

I wouldnt touch a BCCG card because it will likely grade 2-3 grades lower. I've seen 10's that are 6's or 7's. They know not what grading correctly is.
