Why not put serial #'s on flips?

I am exclusively a vintage collector right now, but I am thinking about dipping my toe into some modern stuff, namely some serial numbered Ryans. Do you think that in the future PSA will start putting the serial numbers of the card on the flips. Since a lot of the #'s are on the back, it would be cool to see everything all at once, and it would cut down on resubmissions (though that might have answered my question right there!) I think that you should be able to request the # on the flip if you want it. Any thoughts from anybody a little more knowledgeable on the subject than me?

From this statement, are you thinking that PSA frowns on cracking and resubmitting?

I'm taking a guess here, but I think the reason that PSA won't put the serial numbers on the flip is because they don't trust the card companies. I believe that there was a big snafu a while back with some serial numbered cards that there was supposed to be like 100 of. One guy starting buying all of the cards of one player and ended up with more then the serial numbered version. I believe this led to a lawsuit and the collector won some big bucks.

If PSA put the serial number on the flip they are authenticating that the card is say #4 of 50 and if it later turned out that isn't, they might be liable for damages. Again this is just a guess.

That was a Topps card, and it wasn't serial #'d but supposedly limited to 100. The guy had over 140 Jaromir Jagr cards, sued Topps, and won.
