DiMaggio memorabilia

Need to ask the opinion of the experts on a piece of memorabilia that has come my way.

I recently purchased an autographed copy of "Lucky To Be A Yankee" by Joe DiMaggio. This edition of the book was printed in the late 50's, with the original copyright in the late 40's. This edition contains newer info that was not in the original edition.

The front cover of the book (not a dust cover) was autographed at a show in the early 90's, in blue Sharpie. The auto is clear and bright, with no smudging. The book is in good condition, but certainly not what we would call mint. Spine is solid, glue is OK, no pages missing, loose, or torn.

Despite the issue that the Joe D. auto may be one of the most forged in the business I have no doubt that this is authentic. The seller was the original owner and furnished a picture of himself and Joe, with the book. I do plan to send it off to PSA/DNA for authentication.

In searching auction sites I am having trouble finding something to match up with this in order to get a ballpark value.
Any help or input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Keith

I would think that the auto (if indeed authentic) outweighs the value of the book. In my opinion the two combined are worth around 400.00 to 500.00 dollars. Joe Dimaggio auto's while in demand are not that scarce as he had arrangements with upper deck the last few years of his life and signed for them. A signed bat though can go for as high as 2k. your book is a nice item worth retail 400.00 to 500.00
    Good for you.

American Memorabilia sold one of those books with a Joe D. Signature in their March 18, 2004 auction.

The lot was #271. Sold for $389.

I would think a book with a vinatge signature (such as the one sold at auction) would be more valuable than one signed in the early 90's signed on the cover in sharpie. Not that I'm anywhere near an expert in DiMaggio memorabilia, i'd guess the value to around $200-250. Good luck with it!
