Anyone have time to give their 2 cents on a 2 cent piece?
I was just given a 2 cent piece but I'm on vacation in VA and don't have my books with me to see what grade it is. I'm also not sure how to tell which variety it is.
It's an 1864 and just by looking at it without any magnification, I can read "In God" ...."we trust" is worn beyond my visual abilities. I can still see most of the horizontal lines in the shield and the vertical lines are still in pretty good shape. The other side is in better shape. The only wear in "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" is the first A. The hole in the A is worn to make the A look solid. The wreath is worn but individual features can still be seen.
Is there anything else that's used for determining an approximate grade that I left out?

<< <i>You're on vacation - what the heck are you doing on here? HMMMMMMMM?????
Everyone else went to do things without me. I figured I might as well try to see what grade this 2 cent piece is. Now make yourself useful and tell me it's a rare one of a kind worth millions and I can retire now.

<< <i>It's so rare, that you MIGHT be able to retire on it... Provided you and your kin can live on a box of Krispy Kremes till 2049.
Make it a box of Dunkin Donuts and I may give it a shot.
Now smoebody needs to help grade this coin before Camster comes along and says this thread has gotten off topic and I have to yell at him.

<< <i>If you can't see the WE, I believe it is in VG or less condition. You'd have to find a picture of the small and large motto to tell the difference between the two - Small Motto coins are much rarer and therefore expensive. Large Motto are common. Obviously you have to be able to tell what condtion the coin is in also - any cleaning, damage, corrosion?

Thanks Frank. At least somebody will answer questions around here.

If the letters are smaller and squattier - $30 coin - sell it at the Atlanta show and buy yourself a new game for your nintendo
<< <i>If it looks like Russ' coin it's a large motto - $7 coin.

I'll bring it to the Atlanta show but I'm not selling it. Free coins are the greatest for filling Dansco Type coin albums.
