The sad thing is that so few of those early folks are still around. image

Some drift in and some drift out -- it's a natural occurrence -- but there was a lot of frustration with the boards. They were very slow and each new "version" of the software was real buggy; sometimes the boards were down for days. In fact, the current version was a total replacement of the old system with a new, much better software. (Although I still miss some of the old features, like seeing how many times a thread was viewed, not just answered, and the ability to click on someone's profile and check on other recent posts by them.) As I recall the boards were essentially unusable for a week and some folks just gave up while others decided they didn't like the new design either.

Yes, back then there were not very many posts. It was certainly different back then but I think things have changed genreally for the better.

That is a really neat link--someday a sociologist (or whatever) will probably go back and delve into the natural history of internet usage by looking at things like that. I do like the way it would show how many times a post was looked at though, that would be interesting now.

They already do. I proof read a paper on the culture of boards just like ours.
