you ask a really interesting question and i might have an answer for you!!??

well first the 1877 is a really scarce proof issue in the twenty centers 350 minted and actually in my opinion much scarcer than the mintage suggests as most all i have seen have been really strongly cleaned

now as to prices well currently proof twenty centers are in rabid demand in this market

in fact the current heritage central states have three of them in their sale to be sold on wed i think??

and all three are in pcgs holders

one coin is a soild for the grade decent proof 63 with obvious hairlines mostly dipped white and so far it is at $3350 including the buyers premium or as many say including the juice and the coin is in a pre 1995 older pcgs holder

another coin also a proof 63 has some nice rim toning on the obverse of the coin the reverse is really superb and i bet it is on the cusp of 64 like a proof63++++/64 coin and this coin is currently bid at $3800 including the juice

the third and final coin is a proof64 and is graded cameo and for me is nothing special it is a greyish coin and is currently bid at $4000 including the juice

so these are real accepted bids so these are so far real prices if i can see what the coins sell for i will add this to your thread on here and agaib these are based on the descriptions and trhe scans in the auctions i have not seen the coins in hand sight seen

in my opinion and since this is the pcgs boards a true solid for the grade pcgs proof64 1877 twenty center with great eye appeal and not the usual ugly ones you usually see i would say is a currently around a $5500 coin fair retail the key here is pcgs solid for the graxde 64 and MOST IMPORTANTLY WITH GREAT EYE APPEAL WHICH WOULD BE UNUSUAL FOR A TWENTY CENT PIECE IS AGAIN FOR ME FAIR RETAIL A $6000 COIN on a dealers web page

in my opinion and since this is the pcgs boards a true solid for the grade proof63 1877 twenty center with great eye appeal if there is such a thing for a proof 63 LOL would be one helleva rare coin with great eyenappeal for a proof63 and not the usual ugly ones you always see i would say currently around a $4500 coin fair retail price on a dealers web page

again at the above prices the coins both coins would need to have GREAT EYE APPEAL

    i would buy nothing less

and maybe you would get one less expensive?? i guess anything is possible like winning the three way number for the night or having a state trooper pick you up for speeding going 90 in a 65 zone and he lets you go with no ticket i guess anything is possible
