So I was opening up some old minor league wax....

It was 1991 AA Impel Line Drive and I was bored, so I opened a box of it and found a couple former and present major leaguers cards: Todd Van Poppel (major league bust) DJ Dozier,Donavon Osborne,John Flaherty, Tim Costo, John Jaha, Jeromy Burnitz, Pedro Martinez, Royce Clayton, Mark Wohlers, Bret Boone, Jim Thome and Pudge Rodriguez. There were more but I can't remember them. I'm gonna send in the Pudge and Thome cards because they are perfect.

Those are nice cards, I bought a bunch back in 91 and the cards are perfectly cut - centering is nice etc. Why can't Topps do as well? The design is simple but IMO nice looking - by todays standards, boring.
The IRod at 2.50 is the gem, the Thome 1.50 - I wonder if Krause made a mistake on the Pedro Martinez #613 - they have it at a nickle!?

Krause made a mistake. Pedro sells for about what I-Rod does, and sometimes more.

I do believe the Pedro you are talking about is a different Pedro Martinez. I ran across a few of his minor league cards, he has a big Gerry-Curl like Pedro does now lol.

ALLEN is correct! All Pedro Martinez' are not created equal. The other Pedro was a bust. Pedro #2 baseball stats ...jay

    DbJ,

That is a sweet find. The Bret Boone would do well in Seattle. And you know me, I would want the......you guessed it: Todd van Poppel......I grew up watching him trying to become the next greatest pitcher and he is just starting to come around. A great guy nonetheless. I am glad he is still in the MLB and pitching.

  • Sad to say I was crushed when I thought I had Pedro Martinez and found out I had a bum. If you notice the one in the AA set is a lefty while the good Pedro is a righty. i always liked their sets and the Star minor league sets. They never caught on though.

That's weird. I looked at the 2000 Beckett Almanac, and they had #613 (Pedro Martinez) at $6.00 (and the I-Rod card at $5).
