Because of how it is now, it has a unique value to that sort of collector. Like your self -

I agree with Jeremy. I have had numerous GAI crossovers rejected at PSA and all I believe due to marginal centering. At least it is something that is easily measured, but if it is close, I don't think it will make. I hope at least it is a high grade HOF otherwise the expense of trying to cross could siginifcantly eat into the pricing differential between the companies.

I just think that GAI should be taken on it's own merits -
A high grade GAI 9 1st Graded is a unique item, maybe not yet on the same level as a PSA in the same grade, and maybe not quite crossable, but still unique and valuable. Jeremy
73 topps baseball all, a 7.5 was down to a PSA 7, an 8 stayed as a PSA 8, an 8.5 went up to a PSA 9.
Pretty close grades, all within a half point. One up , one down, one same, seems somewhat comparable to PSA standards overall. No large sample by any means, but no big problem either. If you can find a nice GAI card at a good price, it just might cross okay.
For sales, on the net, the scan and the detail verbage are probably most important in getting a price close to the typical PSA value.
