1952 Bowman Mantle PSA 10 - $43,125 with buyer's premium

As most know....one of the two 1952 Bowman Mickey Mantle PSA 10s was sold in yesterday's REA auction. Estimate was $40-60k.

Thoughts on the hammer price? It will be interesting to see where the GAI 10 ends up (currently in the Mile High auction)

For a second there I thought this was the 52 Mantle auction with the stolen Fogel scan. Whoa.

'twill be interesting indeed. Although I'd have to sell both kidneys to afford a card like that, I just can't take that GAI 10 slab seriously. I wouldn't be surprised if the heavy hitters felt the same.

Judging from the final price on the PSA 10 it would seem that bidders didn't take this grade too seriously either. The consigner is very disappointed with the sale, but can't fault the auction house- most of the closing prices were off the scale.

There was some innuendo on the Net 54 board about this particular card, anyone know the inside story?

Net 54 discussion, about halfway down
