I've just won this coin with the essay competition wich was organized by JohnZ (see liteside). I don't know anything of this coin, so I would like to have some information, like how much were minted, and how much it is worth in this quality....

The 1893 sovereign minted in Melbourne. My 3rd edition (2001) Krause lists the mintage as 1,649,000 for the Jubilee head, with an unc price listed as $200. There was also an Old head version as well, but listed for a somewhat lower value (and a 1.914 million mintage). I hadn't really noticed before that the Melbourne mint had used both styles for 1893. That is a pretty nice giveaway!

Congratulations on your prize - it's a real keeper!

Spink values it at £65 in EF and £200 in UNC. Being that MS-60 is EF to gEF to the Brits, it puts the coin in the £65-£100 range.
