It was the first time for me, and it was the first show in about 14 years or more that i went to. I thought it was ok, I picked up some non sports cards, saw many of the dealers that i had bought from on ebay and looked at all the cards.... PSA was there and as were SGC and GAI. Funny how SGC was at one end and PSA was at the other.......................I will go again next spring. I also went into Philly and saw the sites.
    Good for you.
  • Show was great. If you were a Hockey collector, Very few ! Baseball was at its best. Selling cards was also great. My first time . I'll go back again.

  • norty,

I was there Friday night and Saturday. The volume of people at the show was the lowest in the 24 years I've been attending. But most dealers said the buying volume was still strong. Meaning....the quality collectors were there. I know I spent twice as much as usual this time around.

I actually found quality pre-war hockey cards at this show which is very out of the ordinary. Included was a C55 Lalonde, V-145 Cy Denneny, a super rare 1924 Willards Chocolates Harry Watson, and a V-129 Joe Primeau.

But the highlight of the show for me was finding a PSA 7 1932 Orbit Gum pin of Mickey Cochrane. These pins are real sharp.

What non-sports cards did you get at the Fort? Some raw soon-to-be=PSA 10 Lost In Space that you need to sell me?

And what sites did you see in Philly? Did you catch a glimpse of my Flyers? 3 down - 1 to go!!!!

hey three how ya been? well i went into philly and saw the historic district and while on broad street also saw where the baker bowl used to be. as for the non sports no, no lost in space but i found card 4 of the beatles color set (ringo) that I needed and I got some Target Moon examples in pink, orange and a stamped canadian pc. I have the full set in blue, and some 51? or 52 I havent looked em up yet Bowman space cards (similar to mars attacks) but small sized. One dealer had only non sports and I was at his table for almost an hr. not many had non sports it was baseball baseball baseball. The guy im talking abt doesnt do graded stuff nor does he do ebay. he did have some nice stuff though. I also got my free grades abd did well in that dept too. I also paid for 3 so I got 11 cards graded and was happy for all but maybe 1. grading was fair as far as I was concerned. I did have 1 card grade an 8 #34 in Mars attacks! so that will be goin in my set as soon as they get back and validate

Glad that the trip was worth your while. Please share the rest of your grades! A Mars Attacks 8 is worth anybody's time! Nice going!

I have seen the Bowman Space cards in one of the local shops..I don't remember the quality of the ones I saw, but I'll have a look next time I am there so I can let you know what they have.

The historical sights in Philly are great! Hope you had a cheesesteak while you were there!

  • Attendance was usual for the May show.
I ve been going there since 1986.
Psa, Global and Sgc all did well.
Most dealers did very well except for the "not so bright" ones

    thanks

  • Deaconblues, I was at the show, I tried to find you but had no idea of your business name, or where you set up. I looked for someone with high grade commons but did not see many. I sent you a few emails a few weeks ago so I could get together to check out your stuff but they were never even opened.

  • hey there,
    sorry about that,
I was on vacation the last two weeks and have not checked that account lately.
    I will check them today.
I was in the far back left of the show.
Not the best spot in the show.
Next time Fort rolls around i will email everyone the # of the spot i am in.
I will also be set up at Sportsfest and the National.
I also set up at gibraltar (detroit) once a month.
    Look for "TW SPORTSCARDS"

    thanks alot
