There's a *case* on eBay for ten bucks.

    Lotsa little cardboard heads

Personally, I think they're neat items, it just a little bit weird.

The 89T Heads Up! is a test issue and were sold one per pack - the player's name and team were printed on the back and the set of 24 books at 1400$.
Key cards: McGwire 200, Griffey Jr 175, Gwynn 125, Sandberg 100, Boggs 100, Smith 115, Mattingly 150, Puckett 125 and Schmidt 150 - commons 35, minor starts in the 35-75 range. If those are in original packs - WOW! that could go for big bucks!

Hi, that's a 1990 case which is very common and sets only book at 8$ - he is referring to 1989.image

So the case on ebay is not the 89 test issue worth the dough, but the following year where it is worth, well 10 bucks?
    Good for you.

Wow. My bad (clearly). Does anyone have the checklist from the 89 test issue?

A 1989 set sold on eBay for $214 recently.

    More little cardboard heads

I'll have to check the Will Clark I have at home, as it looks just like the one in the above auction. Either I have an 89, the auction was actually for 90s or they look identical. Any of the three seems possible to me.

My source was the 2004 Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards. You values are higher - was that Beckett on-line?

as I recall, those '89s were very tough to find, and the '90s were all over the place.

Does anyone know much about these issues? Specifically, what is the difference between the 1989s and the 1990s?

As I said, my Will Clark looks like the one in the auction. I paid about a buck for it, so I can't imagine it is an 89. I wonder if the only difference is the year printed on the reverse. (I'll have to check what it says when I get home.)

Thanks for the input everyone!!!imageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimage Turns out that my box is from the 1989 Seriesimage. Out of 24 packs I only opened one pack when I first bought the box which was Jim Abbott.

The good thing about these packs is that you can read who is in each pack by looking on the back. Do you think these will sell well on eBay? I haven't seen any 89's up for sale in a long time.

    Thanks Again!

Send them to me and I will find out for you...... image

It depends. You could get "wild" and attempt to get close to the whole set graded. Im sure someone would be interested in the set (or close to finished set) in 7's or better.

Or you could just grade the top 4-5 cards and go from there.

I would Definitly have a few of them graded. To me something as limited as a "test" set begs for it especially freshly "pack pulled".

Course Im "new" so wait till you hear from a few others.

congrats on having the 89z good luck in moving them, you should do well, but Im not sure as well as the listed prices.
    Good for you.

If you check the completed auctions, you'll see that several singles have sold recently on eBay.

    Here are the prices realized:
    Canseco - $15.60
    Jordan - $9.95
Jefferies - no bid ($9.95 open)
    Gooden - $18.51
    Davis - $9.95
Burks - no bid ($9.95 open)
    Viola - $10.45

None of the big names were available, but the lesser names didn't seem to get the dollars mentioned earlier.

If you're looking to sell them, I'd be interested in one or two of the Will Clarks. (One to open and one to keep sealed.)

I'll give you $30 for the Schmidt, if you have one!
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
