Ok, don't laugh...but I just bought my first PSA graded card. I put my bid in pretty late, and thankfully no one sniped me.
My first purchase
I bought another card that is slabbed, but not graded.
Slabbed by Topps
I'm slowly dipping my toe back in the baseball card hobby, so these entombed cards are a bit strange for me.
How many of you remember the first graded card you bought? I bet I paid less than you !

I'm not joking especially about the zoo thing.

My first PSA graded card was a 1976 Topps Nolan Ryan in PSA 8 (would it be anyone else?)... it was about 5 years ago and I paid $30! That was my last day of sanity snd my first day of madness!

You make me wonder if all true collectors are obsessive compulsive individuals only satisfied by the next "Fix" - that PSA whatever that ephemerally fills the void till requiring the next hit...... Are you a psychiatrist?

That pretty much sums it up.
came back an PSA 8 , along with duty costs.
that was the last time I claimed full price ,. First one I actually bought was a Fred McGriff 86 Donruss PSA 9.
Just an FYI, that second auction you won is not a special test issue. Back in 1989 Topps came out with a set of "stand-ups". I don't remember the exact name of the set, but they were mini cards with their 89 issue on one side and the player's rookie on the other. They came in a plastic casing that would stand-up. One of the sides pops off so you can take the card out. I had three of them back in the day. I may still have the McGwire stashed away somewhere.

Yeah, I was just kidding about the second one being "pre-slabbed." I'm pretty sure these were called "Doubleheaders" and I've been looking to add the Clark to my collection for about ten years. I never wanted to pay the price when I saw it at shows. It may have taken me ten years, but I saved at least two bucks!
