Henry I penny

Won this on ebay this morning. It's a nice example but I'd hoped to get it a little cheaper. Text

Cosmic, I'd have liked to get it for around $700. I didn't tell you what the William II penny cost me.image
  • But you can console yourself with the fact that you have a beautiful coin of a VERY scarce monarch. Also remember, John Pittman may have wondered if the $100 he spent on a 1792 U.S half disme (near uncirculated condition) in 1948 was worth the expenditure!

Python, fantastic. Not an easy coin to get. How many more do you need?

Ajaan, I still need about 11 coins to complete from William I to Victoria. Most of what I need will be very
difficult to find and afford. Nice going on the Edward II. Good price and the portrait is pretty clear.

You just don't need one because the coins that were once thought to have been minted during his reign are now thought to have first been issued during the final weeks of Edward IV. A cheap and easy solution!image

Colin, the legend gives the name of the Moneyer and the mint were it was struck.

Aethelred, that's great news. That would have been a very difficult coin.
