The Mad king and little Vicki... edited and complete

Edited to add: wait for it! It's coming. Darn enter keyimage

The mad king and little Vicky image
lived on pages, side by side. image
An enormous copper twopence
with a three half pence did reside. imageimage

One coined to stem the tide
of a counterfeiters plan.
The other to journey far off
to West Indian waters and Ceylon.

Good King George was just a brute,
a hulking copper of giant size,
while Vicki was prim and young,
a delicate silver graced by Victoria's eyes.

As I gazed at these two coins
and struck by their very different styles,
I wondered about the centuries
and the 1000's of unrecorded miles
that conspired to bring them to me
at this point in their storied lives.

The Cartwheel is from Ajaan-it arrived quickly and safely-thanks Don.

The 1841 1 1/2 pence or three half pence I picked up locally and it's a pretty coin but it's a terrible image-had a lot of trouble due to it's 12mm size.

When I opened my Coincraft to study them, there they were, side by side, paper companions, the largest and smallest english coins I own, physical opposites but together.

I was struck by that and the fact that I acquired both coins within a couple of days of each other. What a tortured and lengthy path they have taken to reach me, arriving from the far past into their future and my present. Both very interesting to read about- the Cartwheels size to make it difficult to counterfeit, the 3 half pence to do commerce's job overseas, but now 'adopted' as part of regular english coinage.

    Cosmicdebris,
    floating in a space where
    coins flash by,
    emmiting strange sounds,
    the beautiful ones grasped,
    held,
    analyzed,
    and then, in a trice,
    adopted.

No, I wouldn't buy anything like that without seeing it. I was just wondering what they use to get their images that way - looks like animation. There's some other big shot doing it too. What is it digi-cam then software or what?

According to Spinks for the 2d:
    Copper proof
    Bronzed proof
    Silver proof (wow)
    Gold proof (WOW)
    Gilt copper proof

And just about the same for the penny.
