    It's a Roman Empire silver denarius, circa 193-217 AD. The bust is that of Julia Domna, wife of Septimius Severus. Sear 643.

  • Than ks for the info on the coin. It is really nice looking, especially for something that old. Wonder how some coins from ancient Rome are so well preserved and others look like basically nothing?

    It's a mystery to me. I have a bronze Diocletian from about 100 years later up on eBay now, and it didn't fare as well. You can see it by clicking on the defense fund auctions in my sig line.
