I think I just lost all respect for the Better Business Bureau

This guy has to point out that he is a member of the Better Business Bureau in his auctions. Maybe that's why this card is best compared to the $125,000 Tiger Woods PSA 10 SI for Kids and he charges only $5.95 for shipping and handling. Say it ain't so.

    OK here we go:

Im sending this message to the seller.

I checked the Online BBB (http://www.bbbonline.org/consumer/) with regards to your company (ARA Collectibles in NJ) and found no listing for it. It would be greatly apprecited if you could supply the name in which you are registered under with the Online BBB.

    Thanks.

    Lets see what happens.

<< <i>only comparable card is the 1996 Sports Illustraded for Kids Tiger Woods card that sold for $125,000 in GEM mint condition. >>

This junk in GAI 9.5 holders was being "pushed" in the May 2003 Tuff stuff and in SCD if memory serves me - the title is Could this be the next $125,000 Card? I had contacted SCD and wrote a note to the reader reaction section to the fact that I didn't think it was in the interest of a Krause publication to be allowing this type of hype - not to my surprise and much to my chagrin, I got neither a response nor air time. The ad is for Start Collecting.Com in Cherry Hill, NJ - same location as this ad - and as many know, it is the old stomping ground of Kenny (got a boat load of Pro10s) Goldin, aka Classic cards. This stuff is a black eye to the hobby and the fact that SCD would allow it, shows that in the last few years, they may be getting desparate. This weeks copy of SCD is UNDER 80 PAGES!

  • Be advised that this seller sold me fake 1985 NIKE sets awhile ago. However on a positive note, they did refund all my money plus the PSA fees (over $400 total). He just primarily deals in high volume junk.

The BBB is only in business to sell door decals, stickers and counter cards... as far as being a resource for legitimacy in business practices, you're better off consulting a crystal ball!

A lot of crap businesses claim that they are members of the BBB, but in reality are not. They just want to trick you into buying what they have for sale and give the illusion that they are a good business. Chances are he is not listed in the BBB. If he is listed, then there would be all kinds of complaints filed against him.

Tried to buy some cards from these people a few months ago. Had to return the cards twice because they were obviously not up to the grade on the holder. On the third try I received a call from startcollecting.com telling me that they would not be able to deliver the cards that I desired and would refund my money. To their credit, the refund was given quickly. At the time I was not familiar with this seller, but learned a lesson. Thankfully it did not cost me any money.
