    I don't have the rarity figures on this piece...there is another medal with the same obverse but with the "Sower" girl (from French coin fame) on the the reverse.

    I'm slowly working towards the patterns. I have three more bronze pieces to do before I get to them. I have been scanning all of this stuff to save me the heartache and time needed to photograph.

    Scott - I find the asymmetrical design of the beard to be interesting - notice the tuffs of hair that look like they are in wind - Goetz was, in my opion, a master at realistic characterization (seems like a conflict in terms, I know)
    so to see a character that is not looking their "best" is strange. I mean, every one combs their hair and tries to look their best when having a portrait done, so why this obvious depection of messyness for posterity?
