That is awesome. How much more will this make the dollar go down?

I believe the original Euro Nations will be carrying these ten for a while. I'm also looking for a nice net gain in the Dollar vs The Euro as "growing pains" set in. Look for 1$ to 1 Euro later this year.

That would be cool for an even playing field. I sure would like to see the £ come down a little too.

Opinions please. Do you think the UKwill ever forgo with the £ and adapt the Euro? Or is the £ too ingrained into the British psyche? Will they adapt it only if the pound falls too low?

I believe the British are much too proud in their history and culture to give up the Pound; and this is how it should be. Being an island nation also helps to insulate them from the rumblings of mainland Europe.

I could be mistaken but I think the British are still very secure with their investments and worldwide holdings dating back to when they were the major world Colonial Power. Why should they give up what has worked quite well for all these decades??

I also believe that England will not be switching to the Euro anytime soon. Heck, I doubt that they will vote YES to ratify the EU Constitution when/if it ever comes up for a vote.

I think it would be ill-advised for the Brits to sign up. They're already in the EU, but without the problems and hassles of going Euro. The current leadership has been looking for an opportunity where the polls are favorable enough to pull a "quick-snap" pro-Euro referendum, but I doubt that will come any time soon. The British have long sought to be the strategic counterbalance to the other powers in Europe and, over the past century, to be the bridge between the US and Europe. That would seem to offer them a better deal than going with the Euro.

  • From this side of the Atlantic it is interesting to see how well you understand the British view on the Euro. We are happy to use them and even accept them but LONG LIVE THE POUND.

My understanding of the relationship British Parliament and the Isle of Man is that the bill has to specifically mention the Isle of Man for it to affect the Island, just hope someone forgets or alternately there is a precedent for the usage of pre-Euro monetary units. For example, some Dutch dependencies still use the Guilden.

I agree with Claus.....I think we'll see the Euro sliding back toward par with the Dollar.
  • The Isle of Man Government has stated that if the UK moved to the Euro the Island would follow, this is because of the large amount of trade between them.
We have our own Sterling notes and coins but UK,Scottish and Northern Irish notes circulate and most traders accept the Euro because of the number of visitors from Eire.
