DH,
Do graders necessarily spend more time on more expensive coins? It seems intuitively likely that this would be the case: higher price paid for submission, higher PCGS liability for mistake, greater impact on the marketplace, etc. I would expect PCGS to spend considerably more time on a 1794 dollar than a baggy 1887 Morgan, as an extreme example.

Graders will take a little more time on expensive coins. It is also a matter of which series a coin is from. It's a lot easy to grade a Morgan dollar than an early large cent, no matter the value. We also have a double verify system for expensive and/or important (low pop) coins, so they get a second look as part of our grading process.
Thanks,
David
