Raw Proof Cameo/Deep Cameo 25c(Older ones) & 50c(Franklins)

Does anyone know of a source for Proof Cameo/Deep Cameo Franklins or Washingtons? I'm interested in purchasing a large quantity, then submitting them to PCGS for grading. Thanks.

  • Ummm... original unsearched proof sets from the 50s and 60s....

    Good luck finding them.

If you find any source for raw cameo franklins, please let me in on the secret. Even at most shows, I see little if any raw cameos- and the ones I usually see are light cameo that would not make the designation at pcgs or ngc (but the dealer will still have a hefty premium on it). Perhaps Lucy has some ideas?? image

Will tell you where not to look, so called unopened proof and mint sets on eBay.

    Good luck!
After looking for nice cameos for over 15 years, you will be lucky to find a steady supply of cameos that deserve to be in holders. The suggestion to look at coin shows is good - you will find some material there. Can you elaborate on what you are trying to accomplish?

There has been much debate on these boards about buying unopened proof sets on ebay or elsewhere. I can only state from experience that it is possible to find cameos in unopened proof sets - I have done so many times. But I have never bought any on ebay - I just have purchased from local dealers and in small quantities. A little like buying a lottery ticket.

Also, don't forget to look your sets over for varieties. I was fortunate enough to find a '61 Double Die Half in an unopened proof set. That made my year!

Have them already slabbed. Send me a PM if you need anything specific.

Tough to find raw! It's lots of work!
