How often do you visit your coins?

WondoWondo Posts: 2,916 ✭✭✭
I went to the bank this morning and brought some coins home for a nice visit. They will stay and play the morning with their friends and then head back to the safety deposit box for the weekend and on. I do this maybe once a month.

How often do you visit or take your coins on a vacation?

My collection isn't all that valuable so they're always available to look at and show off.

I never go get mine for the conjugal visits unless I have to add one to them.
I can't go during the weekdays (because of timing and work being 25 miles away) and they are only open from 10am-1pm on Saturdays and I like to sleep image

So, no conjugal visits for me.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

  • Every day, right here in my home. What's the point of collecting coins when you can't even see them without driving across town? Might as well just collect stocks or bonds image
I heard they were making a French version of Medal of Honor. I wonder how many hotkeys it'll have for "surrender."

I'm still mad at them. We don't visit.

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

  • I look at at least some of them every day. I have a few toners on display on my desk at work...a few on display at home..and the bookshelf albums are always available for a quick fix...

    Too much...

I think that I am smothering them. They asked for a little time alone...

You would leave 40k worth of coins in your home?image

  • Boz: I (personally) don't see the point of collecting something that you can't see when you want. That's just my opinion, and many people disagree. I would either limit the value of my collection, or install a nice safe and heavily insure the coins. To me that's a much better option than driving across town and spending 15 minutes looking at your coins, then barely remembering what they look like by the time you get home.

I see your point on the safe and all, but there is also the point of who knows what's in that safe. A safe deposit box is an extension in security. Mine is only 5 minutes away, so it's not an inconvenience for me. I still see my coins often enough to suit me.
I can't see limiting my collection, because I wouldn't be collecting what I want, and that also defeats the purpose.

I keep my coins at home with me. I can look at them any time I want.

I am on a trip to San Antonio this week, and I brought One of my Morgans with me. But I thought she was lonely so I pick up a couple of new friends for her to play with.

The gooduns are have been sentenced to prison in a bank vault, they get out about once a month on good behavior but cause tension and worry and are re sentenced within a few days. I do have a plethora of coins around my desk to keep me in check and a few pictures on the comp to remember the loved ones in prison.

Some every day, some once a month (like yours, the ones in the safe deposit), but most twice a year (the majority of my collection is out of state from where I live).

I get to see my coins when they return from there summer vacation in the OC. Unfortuanetly it is illegal to mail yourself with the coins.
  • Boz, I'm glad it works for you. Like I said, I don't see the point in collecting something you can't see and hold whenever you want as often as you want, but that's just me.

P.S. There are ways to hide safes, and as long as only you and your spouse know of its existence, I'd think it'd be okay?

  • jhar, while you're in San Anton, check out the coin shop a couple of block north of the Gonzalez Convention Center.
It's in an older blonde stone block building, about three walking blocks north of there. You can see it from the street car loading area.

They have some stuff inside, very small area.

Last time I was there, I was looking for tough buffaloes, and they sent the security guard next door into their storage
area, and brought me out the stuff they were taking to the next show, saying that all they had on hand was common
date stuff. Sold the good stuff to me at dealers' wholesale.

I bought til I was broke, and way happy! Nice folks, if you catch them at the right time. Been there three times, and it's
    variable.

    Every day is a gift.

Visit mine about once a month in the vault. I used to keep them at home, but after I got a digital camera and took some halfway decent pictures, it's look I still have them here. I can pop in that picture CD and look at them any time.

By the way, that's Royalty Coins in San Antonio, along the Riverwalk. Good people to deal with.
  • I keep one of each of my series out for view in my office. The rest are kept tucked away in my safe. But I like to exchange them quite often.
